I've decided to make my own Blood Angels successor chapter, the main reason for this is, as a Dungeon Master of D&D and someone with a vivid creative imagination, I want to be free of the shackles of a pre existing faction and be able to create my own characters, history and fluff for them. I will be keeping the paint scheme rather close to Blood Angels chapter, with a few exceptions.
I'm just getting started and so far I have everything that came with the Deathstorm Box to start out my Blood Angels force. I've decided to have a crack at the Terminators first of all.

Though my Blog will be the first place to keep track of any updates, I'll try to post on here also.
Here is an extracted post directly from my Blog at Project: Sanguine Hammer

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog. First of all, let me introduce myself, My name is Mike, aka @MijMike. (Or on Dakka Mij'aan) I write for Red Barrel Gamers, broadcast on Twitch and spam Twitter quite a bit, in case you wanted to find me elsewhere. At 27 years old I'm a full time worker, husband, father of two. I am an enthusiast of all kinds of gaming, from tabletop war gaming, pen and paper RPGs, to all sorts of other bits and bobs. I own Tau, Tyranid and Chaos Space Marine armies, and now I've delved into Blood Angels. Sadly I have very little time to sit and paint my miniatures like I used to. I'll hold my hands up and readily admit that I'm a novice painter, I have several friends who are far better than me but that isn't going to stop me from doing what I enjoy. They won't appear professional, but they will be mine!

So what is "Project: Sanguine Hammer" you ask? At the moment it's the project name for my Blood Angels successor chapter. Until now I haven't decided on a chapter name and this one is the most fitting, though it is possible it could change in the near future. I've also decided to name my blog after my little project. I'm going to be posting regular updates regarding my new chapter, along with some other things. Not only will I be painting and building the miniatures, but I'm going to craft a 'fluff' background for the chapter and I'd appreciate any input on this. I'm sure I'll have plenty more for you soon.

I'l be following this ~ just beginning my own Blood Angels project blog.

How are you laying the red down? I've found this a great use for Halfords Red Primer as a solid base of red to work up from.

'Ain't nothing crazy about me but my brain. Right brain? Riight! No not you right brain! Right left brain? Right!... Okay then lets do this!!

I first went with chaos black primer, following with a coat of Mephiston Red base spray paint.
I was tempted to go for Army Painter but having seen some other models out there painted with the Mephiston Red I must admit I fell into ye old GW trap. I'm unsure whether the method I'm taking looks any better than just using Army Painter's equivalent, it's certainly less efficient.

I've painted my Tyranid army using the 'Bone' colour from Army Painter's range and that stuff is brilliant. You can see a small image of my hive tyrant in my blog I linked.

So far, I like the results on these Terminators, but time will tell. Again, I'm no "Pro painter" and far from it. I'm not a complete novice but I'm still perfecting brush strokes etc.

Thanks for following though, I'll follow you too!

I have a lighting issue at the moment and you can't really see what I'm posting here, i'll go on to explain.
The initial image I posted of my marines (in my original post) was after 1 coat Chaos Black primer and 1 - 2 coats of Mephiston Red base spray paint. I say 1 - 2 because it was a little more than one coat, but not quite two.
In the image i've just posted, i've now touched up some areas with Mephiston red paint from the pot and am ready to wash them with Agrax Earthshade. Though I'm not entirely sure I'll get the time tonight. My son keeps waking up and I have to go up to him (he's only 2 weeks old today!)

On the note of creating fluff for my marines, I want to name each marine one by one! So I'm looking out for name suggestions that might just make First Squad of Sanguine Hammer's First Company! Any suggestions? I'm obviously looking for space marine-y type names! I'd rather take one that real people suggest as opposed to a generator!

Trying to combine the lifestyle of a Wargame enthusiast, a full time career job and a dad to two very young children just doesn't work. Opportunities to spend time painting miniatures are few and far between and whilst I love spending time with my family, I often find my mind drifting off to my unpainted Warhammer. Sadly painting has been on the back burner, nothing has been touched for weeks. My son is struggling with colic, my daughter trying to potty train, work is hectic and everything just comes first.

This easter weekend I find myself at my mother in laws, with my wife's family around to entertain the little ones I was able to lock myself in a bedroom and paint for a couple of hours. Rejoice. Only small amounts of progress made today so far, Baby steps if you will, I'm not particularly pleased with the quality of the painting. Actually I need some new brushes, but that's another thing for another day. I am however happy to finally get some time to paint.

From a fluff perspective I've been creating a rough outline of the history of my chapter that should define a few things painting wise. I'll probably do a write up some time soon.

For now here is a poor quality image in poor lighting conditions, I'm currently at the other end of the country and have no access to my usual stuff. In fact this has been painstakingly written up on my tablet and not my pc... #firstworldproblems

(Posted from my phone, pic available on Sanguine Hammer - will upload pic to gallery later when I can get to pc)
