My name is Joshua from Silly Kid Games, I wanted to share with you some exciting news. April 21, 2015 marks the start of the Kickstarter campaign for our new action anime card game called Golem Academy. Imagine a training arena where players face off in battle, wielding the power of their ancient Golems to protect the world from evil!

Golem Academy includes more than 200 cards featuring killer full-color illustrations by our resident artist. I have attached the first promo artwork for your viewing pleasure. We plan to release a new piece of artwork weekly leading up to the launch of Kickstarter

You'd be better off with this in News and Rumours (it gets the most traffic for active KS projects)

I'll see if one of the MODs can move it for you

Interested. Any basic premesie to the rules? OR what the card layout will be? Art looks good from the promo poster in the first post. and it is a CCG/TCG or a LCG?

The game includes 4 premade character decks. Each character utilizing very different skill sets, cards, and mechanics to make themselves feel unique. Players face off in a turn based, free for all environment. Players will employ various tropes from the action anime genre including: wild combos, rapid reflex abilities and fusion. With the ultimate goal of being the last character left standing. I hope that answers your questions

You will probably want to promote this on http://boardgamegeek.com/

Your game will have to beat out Yomi and BattleCon: War of Indines in what sounds like similar games, but theirs offer a bunch more characters at this point.

Thank you, Karazax!

Introducing Karin Mercury! Over the next week we will be releasing some of her card art and abilities!
KARIN MERCURY

KNOWN FACTS:
Name: Karin Mercury
Species: Human
Age: 15
Sex: Female
Sign: Aries
Height: 5’2”
Weight: 110 pounds
Eyes: Purple
Hair: Light Blue

Likes: Flying with her golem, children, bows, bright things, her friends
Dislikes: Lazy people, lectures, meaners (bullies)
Golem: Orderve – Wind Golem

People have a way of forming opinions about you, especially when your father is the wealthiest man in the world. But I am no spoiled rich girl, and Roland Mercury does not share his wealth—even with his only daughter. Growing up I learned that the only person you can truly rely on is yourself, but this does not make me cold or heartless. I love my friends and would defend their lives even if it meant sacrificing mine.

My Golem is strong, like me. Together we soar above the cities and the trees and revel in the freedom of the wind. There will always be evil in this world, but I know we can defeat it. I do not need things handed to me on a silver platter or a fancy last name like Monstrom. I will study and work hard, and the world will know my name.

That Karin Mercury art above, not the deviantart link, is good.

How do you feel about faces, though? Do you think miniatures should have them? That's a very controversial issue here.

No other adjective would do it justice. Maybe 'hawt' now that I think about it.

Odd choice of place here, to promote this. BGG seems a much more suited venue.

Unless you've got anime inspired figures- that's a whole other story.

Because that's something Indines seriously lacks.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

I agree, anime inspired figures would be a serious game changer but considering it (looks like) a LCG, I don't think we'll be lucky

Alpharius, thank you for checking it out at launch time
To answer your question about faces, I think the miniatures should have faces to give them more expression.

So I just heard back from Mr. Powell, our CCO in regards to your comments about the miniatures and you can read what he says below:

"Miniatures are a great idea that we have considered. There are not many games that have the anime vibe and I don't know of any that use or have miniatures. The truth is though that a miniature isn't needed to finish the game. With a kick starter we want to make sure we are asking for enough to complete what is left over. If we don't hit our goal; we don't finish the product. I say all of that to say this. That sounds like a perfect idea for a stretch goal that may or may not currently be getting researched to see what it would take to have it done. The real question is, Would we want them to be prepainted to be on model or be paintable? No really, I'm asking what would you all prefer?"

Nice, almost perfect.

It just needs her blood type to be a perfect Japanese character profile.

Nah, it's missing her homeroom also since she'd have to be a schoolgirl.

As a doable stretch goal, I'd have to say go for unpainted.

Blood type, homeroom, a list of allergies, specific birth date, etc. All noble stretch goals.

Seconded. And apologies, I assumed there was already at least a promo figure associated with this game. Ah well, a card game is still interesting.

Thank you for the compliment on the artwork
It looks like it's a unanimous decision from everyone, so we'll go with unpainted as you requested. Thank you for the feedback everyone

Karin Mercury's "cyclonic kick" packs a wallop! Trust me, you wouldn't want to get hit by one of those

Games that are Innovative, Entertaining, and Visually Appealing

The company’s soon-to-be-released Golem Academy card game entices players with an expertly crafted quest, exciting game play, and eye-popping action anime-inspired artwork.

Atlanta, GA — Silly Kid Games, LLC may be new to the gaming scene, but novice and hardcore gamers alike will appreciate their passion for creating highly entertaining games that everyone can enjoy. The Kennesaw, Georgia-based company was founded by veteran game enthusiasts who believe in preserving the simplicity and camaraderie of traditional game play while upping the ante on a creative level with imaginative storytelling and stunning original art.

“We are constantly thinking of new things to add to our games that will enhance the playing experience and make them more enjoyable,” says Silly Kid Games Lead Game Designer Daniel Lees. “We have some exciting things in store, and we’re ecstatic about what's ahead of us.”

Golem Academy is the first game designed and developed by Silly Kid Games and is slated for retail distribution in late 2015. The action anime card game transports players to the mythical realm of Dark Tree Village, where their characters battle one another in the training arena and attempt to fuse with their Golems—powerful creatures with unique abilities that will help them in their quest for victory.

“The look and feel of Golem Academy is unlike anything players have seen before,” says Justin Powell, chief creative officer at Silly Kid Games. “It brings together our passion for board games and the artistry and appeal of the action anime genre. It’s really one of a kind—and it’s only the tip of the iceberg as far as what we have in store for players!”

Designed for up to 4 players ages 15 and up, Golem Academy includes more than 200 brilliantly illustrated cards, including double-sided character cards, as well as four exclusive play boards and eight dice. Plans are already under way for an expansion deck.

GAVIN MONSTROM
KNOWN FACTS:
Name: Gavin Monstrom
Nickname: Gav
Species: Human
Age: 17
Sex: Male
Sign: Pisces
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 175 pounds
Eyes: Blue
Hair: White
Dislikes: Overachievers, seeing other people suffer
Golem: Gorm – Gravity Lion
I often wonder what drives people to fight. Is it love? Hatred? A sense of honor? I feel none of these. Over and over I hear the stories of my father, my grandfather, and every Monstrom before them. How they fought for what they believed in. What does that even mean? What is it that I believe in? Maybe I will find those answers here, at the Academy.
Make no mistake—my skills in battle are unrivaled. Fighting has always come naturally to me, like… gravity. No wonder my Golem and I are so perfectly matched. I watch the others train like puppies, doing what the masters tell them from sunup to sunset, but Gorm and I would rather just kick back and have fun. What’s so wrong about that? I see how the others look at me and laugh, the lazy kid who cares about nothing. But the headmaster does not laugh. He insists on my training alongside the others day after day, thinking he can change me. I just smile and take it in stride. The old man has his work cut out for him.
