Assume codicies, supplements, mini-dexes, and Forgeworld... but not 30k. Please keep in mind that some awesome units are in a weak codex, so we never see them at the tourney level... they're still good though.

My try, no particular order:

Cron Wraiths
Wave Serpents
Imperial Knights (I know I should pick one, but we get it)
Flyrants
Sicaran
Sammael
Conscripts
Necron Warriors
IH/Clan Shield Eternal Chapter Master on Bike a la mode
Dire Avengers

Black knights
Deathwing knights
Warp Spiders
Wraiths
Flying Hive Tyrant
Vindicator
Dreadknight
Wraith Blades
Crisis suits

Sammael on his jet bike.

I still think the DA codex has a lot to offer even if they are overpriced pointswise. As you can tell I fight Eldar.... a lot

Never forgive, never remember!

Wave serpent
Necron Wraith

All the above from your list would also make my list.
The other 4 would be:

Typhon seige tank
Hornet
Renegade spawn
Issodon

Not sure about a top 10 list but the humble Herald of Tzeentch and the Revenant probably deserve consideration.

From a straight power level, on their own and not counting formation/detachment bonuses? Here's my list

Necron Wraiths
Wave Serpents
Imperial Knights
Flyrants
TWC's
Flying Nurgle Princes
Riptide
Fateweaver
Grav Centurions
Bikes of just about any form.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

I think some of these choices a little off.

Sammael?? Really? He is an overpriced captain on a bike.

Try Loth, Tiggy or anything else with a guaranteed or high chance of invisibility.

My list would be:

Wave Serpents
Chapter Master (of the Smashf****r variety)
Flyrants
Belakor
Imperial Knights
Riptide
Tomb Blades
Thunder Wolf Cavalry
Sicaran with Mars Pattern
Centurions (with Grav)

Necron Wraiths are good, but they are about as durable as TWC without RP - and TWC hit harder.

Ironic, given your avatar.

Well I play a ton of ITC format and I use a ton of HoW units, so invisiblity just isn't that scary to me.
Regarding Sammy:
Can get WS to 2+ jink
Has AP2 at Init attacks
Jet bike for last turn scores
Bring RW command squad with him
Has a relentless plasma cannon!
Eternal freaking warrior
...and then is all that a SM captain is too. I think he's worth it.

@all, dang I forgot TWC, probably would have included them, Belakor would be honorable mention along with Chaos Fire Raptor

You included Conscripts in that list, they are laughably bad by themselves.

I'm going on out a limb and suggesting that Chaos Cultists and Gretchin should be considered.

Stealing and camping victory points and helping to win by simply being cheap, cheerful and generally ignored.

They also have my vote for the amusement factor - Gretchin shoot at a deep striking terminator squad - one kill and the squad has instantly made its value back.

Ironic, given your avatar.

Not really. One doesn't pick an avatar simply because the crunch is good.

Otherwise we would be seeing a lot more waveserpent avatars wouldn't we.

The only imperial jetbike is a cool concept, and I like the ravenwing artwork, but sammael is mediocre.

When it comes to playing I consider him a ravenwing tax.

Khan is a better choice for unlocking bikes as troops as he gives his army scout and is cheaper to boot. Smashmaster is better at being a beatstick bike character.

Compared to the other SM bike competition, let alone everything else in the game, I just don't see Sammael being anywhere near the top.

Edit: Characters aside, has anyone said WS bikes yet? Gravgun, hit and run nightmares at a considerably cheap cost. They would probably be in my top 10.

Why do you rank Sammie that high?
Honestly I think hes overpriced and has very little synergy with himself.
Sure hes got some great things - eternal warrior, AP2 power sword, Jet bike with mounted storm bolter and plasma cannon but...His SB gain no benift from dakka banner, plasma cannons can't fire snap shots, and his warlord trait is terrible. I guess you just like him cause he give stars a whole bunch of special rules. On his own and with units in his codex hes not that great.

I think I would have the Nightscythe over the Razorwing if I had to pick a Flyer. Best Transport in the game IMO for stealing objectives (I think I would change Tomb Blades for Nightscythes in my list when I look at it).

Actually now that I think about it, what is the criteria? Overall power or contribution to army? I based mine on whether the model was extremely good to be included in any list or could have a list that was built with practically that unit alone (not to mention that people will have different opinions over whether unit X is better than unit Y or vice versa).

Question: Why is draigo on so many people's lists?

Did he not get taken down a peg now that he is a LoW?

Hes still automatic GOI and Sanct. 2+ invo eternal warrior. Essentially making whatever squad he joins near indestructible and omnipresent. In reality invis is not even required to run driago stars it just makes a near impossible squad to kill...impossible to kill - without assassin shenanigans.

This. I also just hate all the Space Marine LOWs, but Draigo the most.

I hate him too and I main greyknights! Hes so powerful that he shifts the meta! In reality he should be number 1 but he does require a lot of elements to become truely OP so I had to tone him down the list a little.

Honestly don't know a lot about the nightscythe to comment. If it's better than the razor wing then that's scary. The stock razorwing comes stock ready to kill hordes and and mech. Thats the most scary flyer I've ever faced off with.

In terms of damage output the Razorwing far surpasses the Nightscythe. Scythe only has 4 S7 Tesla, Razorwing has 4 missiles, Disintegrator Cannon and TL Splinter Rifle for same points.Ten more gives it anti-mech ability.

Nightscythe shines in support role by being a tad bulker (Av11) and stealing Objectives with Troops, whilst still Zooming (and not killing their passangers )

Grav Centurions
Loth

Flyrant

Maybe I shouldn't be putting so many of the GravStar units in this list (since it's their synergy that makes them so powerful).

Yeah, all the other LOWs that Space Marines are okay, but Draigo.....why give him the only 3++ when he's also the only one that can get a +1 Invuln psychic power? 2++ should not exist in my opinion. However, as a Necron player, the fact of the matter is most of the time I can't get through his 2+ armor anyway, so I guess it makes little difference.

I would add Tigurius.

The man is what Eldrad could have been if he had tried harder.

But Eldrad is just an Eldar, a race that tends to just plain suck at psychic powers... too bad Eldrad.

Eldrad is lvl 4 yo. Hes great. Hes for footdar though obviously and current meta doesn't like footdar even though footdar is pretty dang boss. Yeah Tiggy is a beast - no denying that. Maybe his reserve rerolls were a bit much considering he opens the book and picks what powers he wants.
