Hi everyone,

Finished up our work on the Dakka Chugga this past week. Think it turned out pretty well. Even got to try it a bit as a looted wagon

Attached a low resolution photo to this posting.

Here's a link to our blog write-up about the build and features we included.
http://battlegaming1.blogspot.com/2015/03/warhammer-40k-dakka-chugga-pink-orks.html

Lots of lessons learned during this work....
- Keep charging forward - don't get bogged down (i.e., think like an Ork)
- Very hard to glue things to old-school Lionel Train plastic (epoxy worked when others didn't)
- Making Tyranid guts (we followed through on idea to fill the Tenda with Tyranid bodies and guts) was fun and easier than we had thought it would be. We even managed to make some drips

Can see lots of room for further enhancements and improvements. Thinking about a diesel locomotive next

Thanks

For the green, we were inspired by an old set of Blood Angels vs Orks we bought on Craigslist.... Thought that the lawn-green looked very good with pink orks.

Big question for us in terms of next development is *sound*

Not sure if anyone has ever put sound effects in a model. We are thinking it would be great to load an MP3 player card in the Tenda -- and then had it play the beginning of Ozzy's Crazy Train "All Aboard.... Hahahahahaha...."

"Musical Squiggoth." Search for it in the Dakka Articles section.

The Dreadnote wrote:But the Emperor already has a shrine, in the form of your local Games Workshop. You honour him by sacrificing your money to the plastic effigies of his warriors. In time, your devotion will be rewarded with the gift of having even more effigies to worship.

Thanks for posting the Musical Squiggoth article - read that through.

- Turns out that the sound board from VooDoo Fx is 4" x 4" x 2.5"! That won't fit in the Tenda - and it won't even fit in a dedicated car we could tow behind.

Seems like the Musical Squiggoth artist simply hacked up a commercial MP3 player -- and added a battery powered sound amplifier with speakers.

That would be quite a bit smaller. Even thinking that we could place our old iPod Nano inside (with a dangling cord to charge it) - and then have a way to switch the cord over to a similar portable speaker powered by batteries....

Thanks

Hi everyone,

Got the full electrical test of the Dakka Chugga done! Runs well, original headlight works well. Here's a quick video clip of it pulling Space Marines (we need to work on some proper Ork freight to pull).
