So last night I set about to under coat my models white getting these bad boys for some yellow and blue.
I first tried to spray gun it. This didn't work as the plastic jetbikes would take the paint and bubble up as if it were too wet. I used White base and acrilic mixer, I'm thinking those two things are bad ideas?
So then I switched up over to White Spray "Skull White", this IMO didn't really return favourable results. The models were second hand but had not been previously painted.
Thoughts... Why does it look so naf? Thinking about it, maybe an obvious thing but they were sprayed whilst glued together.

I found that after shaking the can for an eternity, running it under a hot tap for a minute or two also helps

I got really annoyed with skull white the other day, seemed to spray thin and pool in recesses, then a post on dakka reminded me you need to spray from the right distance; around 11 inches.
If it's pooling you're spraying from too near. If it's lumpy you're spraying from too far.

urgh stupid white skull. As you all say, the black has always been a dream to me.
heh how odd, under warm water. Its too late for these jetbikes. Luckily I do have a fair amount of them. But what a waste.
Has anybody under coated white with a air brush?

It's not too late at all you could easily strip the undercoat off of the jet bikes and try again using the above tips. I find that regardless of what colour you use, airbrushing gives a lovely smooth result (if done right) and I would expect white to be the same for sure. As said chaos black primer has always been good but I've never had much luck or love from skull white

I bought some Army Painter spray the other day. On the label it says "Shake for about 1min30secs before use" which is interesting as that's the first time I've seen that written on spraypaint.

White is always difficult, no matter its form.
Lead-based whites were always the best, but we cant have nice things if they are a little toxic (dont drink it then!).

Ok, if you want a bit more info - do a search - there are literally hundreds of posts on priming, and a lot of them talk about GW white, alternatives, and many talk about airbrushing.
Ok, first of all, I have used MANY white (and other color) primers - and I feel that the GW white is just bad - it gives inconsistent use, its thick, and has a strange finish.
My personal (after painting for years and trying many primters) favorite spray can primer is rustoleum 2x primer from the hardware store - its cheap and it works.
Also remember when using ANY spray on paint -
* Shake it well.
* keep the can warm, if you are spraying in a cold area
* Spray in sweeping motions, about 8-10 inches from the model.
* if it is excessively hot and dry, you will have to spray closer, as the paint starts to form a “skin” in mid air, and you will get the “grainy” effect (this is well documented).
* use quick sweeping motions across your object when priming.
I get great results from the rustoleum, and I also like the armory brand primer. Some people like the krylon – I have never found anyone who liked the gw spray.
AIRBRUSH PRIMING
This is very popular, and gives amazingly thin coats – there are hundreds of posts on what airbrush to buy – search for them. If you don’t want to – get a badger patriot 105 and a cheap airbrush compressor online or at harborfreight.
Many consider (as do I, once I tried it) – Vallejo surface primer to be the best airbrush primer. Just make sure you give it 24 hours to fully cure.
Best of luck!

Yep, I've already got an airbrush!! So quids in
I'll sack off the white pray in that case, like you say its horrible and I don't have time. I feel that using GW base coat white has screwed the airbrush!
I'll report back I don't think I can strip them.. Fairy Power Spray wrecked the last plastics I tried to strip. :(
