Hi All,

Me and a friend are going to a double tourney - 800tps each, no limits. How every both of us have been out of the tourney scene for the past 4 years, we are upto date on the rules, but in terms of competitive metagaming, we are a little light. Necron's still seem a solid choice and so we are staying with them.

We would really like input from you guys on the lists though, everything is a really tight squeeze to get the most out of the 800pts so if you have any advice that would be great.

List one

Mephrit Dynasty - 800pts

HQ -
OverLord (210pts)- this beast goes with the LychGuard in the Scythe and goes after the biggest threat on the Board
Phase Shift
Res Orb
Solar Thermasite
The Nightshroud
Edge of Eternity

Cryptek (80pts)- Also with the LychGuard. But purely there for the +1 RP and Solar staff, so when they come down on the beams they can only be hit on snapshots
Solar Staff

Elites
5 LychGuard (255pts)
Warscythes - These and the Lord provide me with a nice alternative to the Wraithwing
NightScythe

Troops

3 x 5 Immortals (255pts)

List Two

Decurion Detachment - 798pts

Basic Rec Legion - 479pts
Overlord - Staff of Light
5 Immortals
2 x 10 Warriors
3 Tomb Blades

Aux - 319pts - There to scare the pants of people!
3 Scarabs
1 Spyder
5 Wraiths (3 w/ whipcoils)
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Basically wanting to get the most out of each list.

Couple of questions though, hoping you guys can provide the answers

1/. Are both lists legal in terms of the force org (or lack there of)?
2/. Are there any glaring changes that need to be made, anything that you would take instead?
3/. What do you think against facing off against this list?
- what would you be scared of?
- what would you be able to pick off easily?
- what would be target priority?
4/. What would this list struggle against?

Thanks so much in advance guys, I really appreciate your feedback

D

These are both being taken, right? (as in, list 1 for one person, list 2 for the other)
If so, you'll have 6 Troops between you (ObSec on 3)... but no way to get them where they need to go. Decurion list you're kind of stuck with as far as choices go, what with the points limit restricting what you can take (pity, as those Tomb Blades need more stuff on them).
The Lychguard need to worry about getting tarpitted. If only there was a way to give them a Veil of Darkness.

These are both being taken, right? (as in, list 1 for one person, list 2 for the other) - Yeah two people Mine is the first one, my mates is the second.

I agree mate, unfortunately trying to fit Barges in there, its simply too much, the Decurion is 710 for the RL and CH art bare bones, no room for night scythes or barges! In terms of this I am thinking we just walk to the objectives? rapid firing anything off the objectives.

EG - 5 Objective Game - 10 Immortals/Gauss & 10 Warriors go after Obj1, 10 Immortals/Gauss & 10 Warriors go after Obj2, LychStar after Obj3 and Wraiths after Obj4. End game we should be able to at least clear 3 of those 5 completely of enemy.

10 Immortals/Gauss & 10 Warriors against MEQ
24" - 6/6hit - 3/4wound & 2instawound - 4 dead total.
12" Rapid fire - 12/12hit - 6/8wound and 4instawound - 7 dead total.

10 Immortals/Gauss & 10 Warriors against TEQ
24" - 6/6hit - 3/4wound & 2instawound - 3 dead total.
12" Rapid fire - 12/12hit - 6/8wound and 4instawound - 5 dead total.

Obj Sec doesn't count for anything when they have no troops to secure it with.

The Lychguard need to worry about getting tarpitted. If only there was a way to give them a Veil of Darkness
. - Once again I agree, what would you (or any others have as suggestions?)

I need The Solar Staff to survive the shooting, Cant veil out if I havent got any troops left.

I was thinking Orikan instead of the UberLord, but that means I can the bump the LychGuard up to 8, however doesnt solve the tarpit problem.

That being said - 8 Lych, Cryptek and Orikan are putting out 16 Str7 AP2 and 2 St5 AP2 attacks in combat and not taking that many wounds back, they should alway win combat, and with the Scythe they should be able to be positioned such that I dont get tarpitted.

What tarpits are we talking about in 800pts x2 that would be able to tie them up for more than a turn or two?

No limits eh? Just to give you an alternate universe to consider:

Player 1 (810)

Canoptek Harvest: 230

3x Wraiths
Spider
3x Scarabs

Destroyer Cult- 580

DLord: Nightmare Shroud, Phase Shifter, Warscythe

D (2) + HD
D (2) + HD
D (2) + HD

Player 2 (790)

Decurion Detachment

CCB: Warscythe, Phylactery, Phase Shifter

Immortals (5)
Warriors (10) + Ghost Ark
Warriors (10) + Ghost Ark

Tomb Blades (3): Scopes, Vanes, Gauss

You've got objective sitters, you've got Wraiths to throw at invisible things, you've got AT and you ignore fliers.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.
