Subject: Female Cadian/Arcadian mix

Like many guard players, I want to have some female models to mix in with my units to give some diversity. Models that will look different but won't stick out like a sore thumb, that blend in nicely. The problem, as we all know, is that GW doesn't want to make any female Cadian models for us to do this. Was browsing on Victoria miniatures and saw their female Arcadian models which look amazing. Unfortunately, getting some female Arcadians and mixing them into my Cadian armies won't work as they will stand out. But I was wondering, for anyone that's bought them before, how the leg (and arms?) will mix with the plastic Cadian torsos from GW. My figuring is that with the flak armor on, there would be little difference in male and female torsos (read that as her boobs won't be sticking out).

The Victoria miniatures female Arcadians are smaller than GW's. The legs will work but the arms are smaller. You can use the Mad Robot or Victoria shoulder pads to add IG shoulder pads to the Victoria arms. The lasguns are different than GW's. You can get the empty arms and put in GW lasguns but they look rather large in the much smaller Victoria female arms. You may want to go with Victorias Lasguns. Alternately you can use Mad Robot (they have a fine selection of special weapons and lasguns that fit Victorias female minis. The CQ luminous Battle Rifles are perfectly sized for the them. http://madrobotminiatures.com/zencart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=9_12&products_id=43 Anvil Industry makes some very good lasguns but they are as large as GW's. http://www.anvilindustry.co.uk/Regiments/Weapons/Laser-Rifle-Regiments

Thanks for the advice! I hadn't considered the arms, that's a very good point. Thanks for the idea of the arms, would have never thought about those until after purchases are made and parts are in hand. One thing I was considering is getting some male Arcadians as well and mixing those in, as just an alternate version of Cadian armor. Was also thinking of picking up a set of the Eureka Miniatures Sci-Fi Conversion Pack ( http://eurekamin.com.au/product_info.php?cPath=815_816&products_id=12209) and just mixing and matching the whole lot of them to find things that work and making very varied units of soldiers. Possibly even a unit of Abbithan Banshees.. lots of mixing, lots of matching, lots of varients in my units.
That would work good as I'm thinking of disbanding my established units and reworking my whole army and the units within it.

The Abbithan banshees are rather ... small and thin compared to most 28 MM minis. Add them in in very small amounts. Victorias are much better. However throw in a squad and mix and match the parts with Victoria if you want more variety. You can also look into a large amount of female heads:
http://eurekamin.com.au/index.php?cPath=815_816&sort=3a&page=4 These guys make some female torsos too.
Shoulder pads make all the models blend in quite well.
http://statuesqueminiatures.shop033.com/ Nice variety and even Berets! Go with the heroic size.

The female looks good side by side with the Cadian. I think they will blend in well, especially because I plan to get some of the male Arcadians so it'll be a big mix match of the 3 styles as well as some of the Eureka female Cadian bits. For the Arcadians though, I'm going to get the open arms this way I can do the GW lasguns like you have in the picture. Was that hard to do? Looks pretty simple but looks can sometimes be deceiving. Mars pattern Titans from FW look easy to build... yup, they aren't!

The arms are a bit of a pain to line with the lasgun. The stock is very small and does not fit lasguns. Overall fairly easy. I used the Mad Robot shoulder pads. Mad Robot also has a nice line of backpacks if you like those. I also used the statuesque heads, heroic sized. Throw in some of the male Arcadians and you will have a fully mixed force that will look pretty good.

Curses for mentioning Mad Robot Miniatures! LOL I'm digging their bits, some really good torses and heads as well as the nearly identical to Cadian shoulder pads. Got my order from maxmini places. No female bits but some more ork heads and some more guard bits. Currently working on a Mad Robot order, which is going to be hard to narrow down, lots of good bits! Then the Victoria order once I hear back (I had a few questions for them). I'm still on the fence about the Eureka female conversion bits.. When I build the order and estimated the shipping.. it was higher then I'd like for a such a small order.

Victoria and Mad Robots deliver quickly and are reasonably priced. Mad Robot even has a reward system where if you order you get credits toward further orders.

Mad Robot even has the torsos I've been looking for. A few years back I got some space police heads from minimax but when I held one to the Cadian Torso, it just didn't work. Been searching for a good torso to go with the head to act as some Adeptus Arbites. The CDF torsos look wonderful, bought some of them to try them out and see how they work.
The order with Victoria Minatures is placed, was a bit more then I had planned but ordered some other bits I wanted from them, including two sets of the Turox wheeled conversion kit. One thing I love about them, their customer support is amazing, I had written them asking about a couple of bit packs that were only available if you buy the complete squads. I explained that I was interested in those parts but wasn't going to buy the big kits. He put them up for a limited time to let me put them in the order.

Just wanted to report that the order from Victoria, Statuesque and Eureka have all come in this week and have everything on hand now to start mix'n'matching to find a good combination. I got 1 of the Eureka sets giving 8 females in cadian armor and 10 female in the Arcadian armor. 18 total females will be mixed in with 40 or 50 total troopers (not counting the command squads), which should give a nice mix. This weekend will be a planning stages as I design the army with the building to follow shortly after. I'm pretty excited with this project and hope it works out good!

Another update.... with pictures!
Got a 20 male Arcadian and 10 female Arcadian torso's as well as 23 female legs and lots of female arms from Victoria Minatures and one each of the two sets from Eureka Minatures. 10 total heads from Statuesque Got a lot of other random bits from Victoria, including 2 sets of the wheel conversions for the Turox. Lots of bits from maxmini and still waiting on the bits from Mad Robot, but none of those are needed for the female conversions. Can not wait to start building this army up.
Still undecided on the bases, if I'm going to go with standard decorated bases or with clear bases.
