so im jumping on the 'ole bandwagon and will start actual painting next week coincidentally the day after payday

so I wanted to see what Forge World people would like to see them from the most I am not going to do Mars since 3 other people in my meta are doing that.

i already have a scheme in mind similar to Forge World Metallica but more rakarth flesh for the coats and red as an accent color

well was flipping through the Skitarii book and well..that paint scheme i had previously thought of doing is already a thing its Forge World Metallica

so i lieu of that im changing the paint scheme yay!!! no im going to do a yellow armor/robes with a black/bronze accent colours

the main reference im going to be using for this scheme is pretty much identical to the Ork Morkanaught painted by Ducan Rhodes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l0k8TeHgeA

That sounds like it could look good, those guides are always helpful too. What about the basing to match those colors? Im running a Skitarii log as well, they are such great models, not as posable as some other armies in terms of arms and legs but they look great anyways.

i have seen all the sprues and assembly since like 5 people in my meta are starting AdMech and that kinda bummed me when i saw they are like guardsmen assembly wise.

HEY! first model and boy i cant wait to get it together!

so i know i said it wouldnt have anything solid for a week or so but i decided to be a little greedy thanks to helping my friend do a job. so i went on ahead and picked me up a Onager Dunecrawler and its one helluva kit, GW did really well on this and the details are amazing!

and as for the second pic...yes the base is under the Large Blast marker if you wanted to know how big that base was!!

not sure why it has a base though it looks like it can easily stand on it own..if you know why let me know!!

Has the base for rules sake; being a walker that's not a Defiler, has to have a base.

Ok so i went on ahead and did some magnetization for the two weapon options I wanted the Icarus Array and the *Neutron laser with Cognis Heavy Stubber

Super easy work so dont be afraid if its your fist time using magnets (this is only my second tbh) and it requires minimal work first inside both weapon holds you need to cut away a bit of the middle to allow the magnet to fit then on the rotate cuff itself just smack a magnet in the middle....... boom easy peasy necrons are a little cheesy

then on the side of the rotate cuff the is an indention to hold either the Crux Mechanicus or the Icarus Missile battery cut that away and on the Crux and battery there is an adjacent fitter cut that away as well then fit magnets in moving both so they head towards the open middle or else they will stick out and wont fit at all unless you like lop-sided missile batteries.

and done its that easy guys the magnets on the Neutron laser apply to all weapon variants so go get your Dunecrawler magnetized!!

*i know the Neutron laser is upside down i prefer the Cognis on top

Agreed, although my skitarii are from Ryza.

I like the heavy stubber being on top of the neutron laser, and had not even considered putting mine up there, I think it looks good. Cannot wait to see where you go with this.

So any decision on which Forge World you are going for?

ok so i think its pretty well decided im going Forge World Jupiter and my Skitarii will be part of the Jovian 93rd Expeditionary Fleet

i was able to get started on the yellow for the Main armor not that i have not really started on the metallic and accent colors yet this is just Averland Sunset with some Agrax Earthshade to line the details

sorry for the hiatus boys and girls this week and next week are Finals so this will be my last update for a couple weeks BUT FEAR NOT!!!! i shall return
