Subject: 1500 Skyrar's Dark Wolves vs Sisters of the Nights Rose (fully painted)
Another batrep from me with a few oddities. The Space Wolf list is slightly illegal due to it being a Champions of Fenris but missing one elite slot, then again the Sisters have a 30k squad.
So here we go I wont be able to write this all up in one sitting, but will have it finished by the end of Sunday.

Objectives are marked by white dice. One in the top left building, one in the top right building, one behind the central building by the pond, one on the hill, one in front of the hill and the last on top of the bottom building.
The Wolf Guard will be deep striking in.
Turn 1
Spoiler:
Not much happens in the first turn, both sides advance the Dark Wolves went first. The long Fangs take a wound off the Knight while the Exorcist takes revenge and takes out a Long Fang in the opposite building. The Librarian kills a Thunderwolf with Smite and then his unit fails to make the charge. The Rad missile was fired and completely missed the Thunderwolves, it could have been devastating but it was not to be. The Knight also failed to hit anything as well.
VP Sisters 0
Dark Wolves 0
Turn 2
Spoiler:
The Thunderwolves with the lord charge the Mantis Warrior Destroyer squad, loosing a squad member in the charge, they take out a member and the Lord puts a wound on the librarian in a challenge (there's one MW that was missed in the below pic).
The other unit of Thunderwolves tries to charge the unit of Sisters in front of the Knight but fails the charge by an inch. The Long Fangs fire at the Knight but fail to get through.
Onto the Sisters turn. The Knight strides forward and vaporizes half the Grey Hunter squad opposite it. Celestine's Seraphim squad shoot and charge the Thunderwolf unit opposite them taking out the entire squad.
In the other close combat the Librarian is slain by the lord, but the Destroyer squad manage to inflict a wound on the Thunderwolf.
The end of the turn and its not looking great for the Dark Wolves, you can see below the Grey Hunters were going over to protect objective 5 to deny it from the Sisters for next turn
VP Sisters 1 (First Blood)
Dark Wolves 0
Turn 3
Spoiler:
Turn three sees the arrival of the Wolf Guard they aim to land in front of the knight and hope to put a few hull points worth of damage on it. They landed spot on and actually managed to take out the knights remaining 4 hull points and there was much rejoicing. A few Sisters died in the explosion but the Wolves came out unscathed.
The Long Fangs also managed to take a hull point off the Exorcist while the Grey Hunters at the top of the table started to apply pressure on the Mantis Warrior combat squad. At this point in the game the Dark Wolves were trying to get their Ascendancy objective.
In the Sisters turn Celestine and her squad make mine meat out of the Grey Hunter squad on the hill so they can claim objective 5.
The remains of the Destroyer squad are taken out in combat by the Wolf lord.
VP Sisters 2 (First Blood)
Dark Wolves 0
Turn 4
Spoiler:
The Wolf Guard now decide to concentrate fire on Celestine's squad and take a few girls out. While the Grey Hunters at the top of the table take out the remains of the Mantis Warrior Squad. The Thunderwolf and Lord charge into the Sister squad and take them down to a woman.
Celestine and her two remaining girls then make a risk move and jump in front of the Wolf Guard to take objective 4.
The last remaining Sister in close combat with the Thunderwolves manages to some how survive combat, her faith was strong on this day.
End of turn looks like this
VP Sisters 3 (First Blood)
Dark Wolves 0
Turn 5
Spoiler:
The Long Fangs take out the Exorcist and claim objective 2 which they have been sat on all game. The Wolf Guard fearing Celestine's AP2 sword group round her and manage to kill both of the girls.
The Thunderwolfs take out the remaining Sister, while the Grey Hunters start up a fire fight with the remaining Sister squad.
Celestine jumps back behind the Wolf Guard for Behind Enemy Lines and kills the Cyclone Wolf Guard with her flamer.
VP Sisters 4 (First Blood)
Dark Wolves 1
Its looking really bad for the Dark Wolves now, the dice is rolled and the game continues to turn 6
Turn 6
Spoiler:
Turn six and the Wolf Guard try and take Celestine down with pure firepower from their bolters but fail to get past her 2+ save.
Meanwhile the Thunderwolves try and charge the Sisters and get shot up badly leaving the Thuderwolf dead and then in their turn they reduce the Lord down to one wound, maybe that wasn't such a good idea.
VP Sisters 4 (First Blood)
Dark Wolves 1
Again the dice is rolled and the game continues, the Wolves need a miracle now.
Turn 7
Spoiler:
The final turn and theres not much on the table now. Things start off well though the Long Fangs take a couple of pot shots and take Celestine's head clean off, she wont be getting up after that!.
The Grey Hunters continue to lay fire into the Sister Squad, the Lord also charges them as well to try and table the Sisters leaving one lone Sister left.
The Dark Wolves now have enough objectives to claim Ascendancy which they roll a one
They also get Blood and Guts, although that may have been last turn I cant remember and slay the warlord
In the Sisters turn the last reaming Sister manages to stay alive against the Lord, she took one wound which was saved on her Faith of the Emperor.
The Dark Wolves manage to claw their way upto four victory points in the last turn giving them a draw.
VP Sisters 4 (First Blood)
Dark Wolves 4
Notes
The Knight failed all of its saves in the game!
Never mess with a Sister of battle in close combat Turn 5 was the first time the Dark Wolves rolled an objective based mission apart from Ascendancy.
I hope you enjoyed the batrep.

Sounds like a total and utter bloodbath. The knight was a little disappointing. But I guess it's good that an army not optimised to deal with it still could.
Nice to see some sister of battle getting some love.

I loves me some picture batreps Nice job on the report and good clear pics. Any battle that features the Sisters is well worth the read. BTW, you may want to double-check, but I'm fairly certain Celstine's power sword is only AP3, so the Wolf Guard shouldn't have been so cautious and simply charged in when they had the chance.
What really surprised me is how long the Librarian managed to last vs the Wolf Lord, especially since he had no invul save. Also, were you using the Preheresy rules for the Mantis Warriors?
Also impressed at how Celestine and the Seraphim cleaned up that other unit of Thunderwolves so easily. I'm guessing Celestine did most of the damage?
Either way, always nice to see (fully-painted) Sisters in action.
Thanks for all the replies it really helps encourage me to do more batreps

Yes there's two in each of the units

Yeah it is AP3 I missed that, it was quite hard using 7 different rulebooks for one battle six of those were on my Kindle so was a bit of a pain in the behind looking up rules.
GoonBandito wrote:Yeah Celestine wields The Ardent Blade which is S+2, AP3, Master Crafted in melee.
Good batrep, really nice clear photos of nicely painted armies
Cheers and thanks for the confirmation on Celestine's Sword.

Thanks Yeah she did I also forgot to mention in the batrep (there was a week between playing and writing it up) that one of the thunderwolves died from their shooting before they charged, that unit gives out a lot of fire power. Celestine Flamer, 4 Hand Flamer shots and 11 bolt pistols.
The Wolflord had issues hitting anything most of the game, he just didn't have his heart in it.
In regards to the Mantis Warriors I used the preheresy rules for the Destroyer Squad but counted them as a fast attack choice, the rest of the MW's used the normal Space Marine codex rules.
Gitsplitta wrote:I don't believe the Mantis Warriors were around during the Heresy.... the Badab War yes.
These ones are using left over tech, you need to keep your eyes on these Mantis Warriors they cant be trusted. For larger games when I expand them they will always be accompanied by an Inquisitor
