For years I've wanted to play 30k, my favorite chapter from the novels is the Night Lords unfortunately I lack the skill required to paint lightning bolts on power armor. So I decided to give these models over to a talented local artist named Joel Steiger to see what he could do, and I think you will agree the results were worth the expense. I would give out the guy's contact info, but I've got him booked pretty solid for the next year or so . I will post more images as work gets done, but here's what we have so far:

I like the stuff i see, however i also see that learning painting is (for me anyway) one of the most important things in the hobby itself, and i don't see why you couldn't end up doing paint-jobs like this.

No offense everyone his own.

Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless and perfunctory gift nobody ever asked for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So you're stuck with this undefinable whipped mint crap that you mindlessly wolf down because there's nothing left to drink. Sure once in a while there's a peanut butter cup or a English toffee, but they're gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. So you end up with nothing but broken bits of hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts. If you're desperate enough to eat those all you've got left is a. An empty box, filled with useless brown paper wrappers.

Not everyone wants to waste time, money, and effort trying to learn how to paint only to get possibly bad results on very expensive models.

I think this was money well-spent! They all look fantastic. The conversions are awesome and the paintjob gruesome in a good way. Love the Night Haunter! Very good work.

Superb minis!

When you say artist, do you mean simply that he's very talented, or that he actually works in traditional media as well as minis? Because the whole feel and composition of these paintjobs certainly evoke the artwork of 30/40k in a way that few do; I just wondered if that was due to any crossover from doing art in a more traditional manner.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm actually not such a bad painter myself (and maybe I'll post some of my own stuff someday), but for me the real difficult part is painting small details like lightning bolts. I have a partial fine motor disability so doing small detail work really starts to mess with my hands, Joel is an art student at a local university and has also done things like tattoo art professionally, so I guess that's what I meant when I called him an 'artist'. Will post more pics soon!

There's actually two maulerfiends if you look closely, they have slightly different poses and one has his mouth open. They make a cute couple.
