A paint line that offers quality and affordability at the same time.
Each bottle of paint is carefully filled with the non toxic, hand-mixed paint, formulated specifically for miniature painting and hobby applications.
Our paints are unique and offer smooth finish (no graining EVER), high durability, simple naming and come in no nonsense packaging/labeling (child-safe dropper bottle with a transparent label).
Each paint has a specific opacity level (check out the colourchart) so you know if the paint you are buying can be used as a base, layer or even for shadowing (transparent paints).
Then again, who are we to tell how to use your paints? Forget this. Use them however you like. We just tell you how opaque or not the paints are.
Please feel free to register an account with our webshop and take advantage of the special DAKKA 5% discount ( to receive discount use code: dakka ). The first 5 orders from DAKKA users will receive 10% discount ( to receive discount use code: dakka10 ).
Congratulations on getting your new line of paints off the ground poison_, if the paints are as good as you claim I've no doubt they'll be very popular with the wargaming community!
I have a couple of questions please, on the website there are two categories of paint - the standard range and others labeled Transparent.
Do the Transparent paints use a different formulation from the others or are they the same but with a higher proportion of thinner or additives of some sort?
Sorry one further question, how quickly do these paints tend to dry as compared with other brands like GW, P3, Reaper & Vallejo?

I would send you a swatch of OOP Ghoul Grey, but one of your warm greys might fit the bill. (A bit more excited about that than I probably should be) Though I don't know if I need another eight warm greys to sit among all the other warm greys I've bought, looking for a match! I might just wait 'til the singles are available, and look at other starter sets in the meantime.

To answer your questions:
transparent paints are using pigments that dissolve in water completely and therefore do not cover fully (are not opaque at all). this means that they act similar to inks or glazes (but are NOT inks at all). they are one of our innovations. the more transparent paint layers you add, the more colour you add. they are perfect for layering and shadowing. dilute them with water and you can use them as washes.
the paints take longer to dry than the brands you mentioned. they need around 5 minutes to dry on the mini (in a thin coat), while stay live on the pallete for at least 15-25 minutes.

you can send us a paint swatch of any colour you like and we will find you the closest if not the same colour.
if the colour is very popular (like snakebite leather lets say) we might go into producing it.
let me know through pm if you want to send over the swatch.

Argh! I clicked on the 'paints' category, saw those photos of yellow 5 and transparent yellow, and assumed that most individual paints still had to be rolled out. Boy is my face red.
I'll see about that swatch and pm. Thanks for the help!

Much obliged poison_, those Transparent paints sound very interesting I will make a point of trying them out when finances permit.

It's always good to see more choices when it comes to paints. I look forward to reading some reviews and seeing these show up on blogs and YouTube videos.
When do you think you will have a few US distributors lined up?
Well, I'm always up for trying some new paint. Cheers for the code, I'm curious how these come out. My IG will be eagerly waiting for their spiffy green paints.
Your order has been placed!
I will say that long term you need to work on a more user-friendly webstore. Picking the paints individually and having it flip me back to the top each time, when browsing the list was a pain. Scrolling a single column list was also not ideal, and I'm not even using a cellphone.
A simple system like this: http://www.barnyarns.co.uk/madeira-classic-rayon-40-1000m-full-listing would be worth looking into, considering the amount of colours you offer. Where you can just enter all your choices and press "add to cart".
(I know thread is a strange example, but see what I mean about ease of use)

I am not sure if distributors will be a good way forward. Need to look into it. The whole idea though behind the paint line is to cut off the middle man, in order to offer the products at affordable prices.
But everything is under consideration.

Thank you for pointing that out. I will have to see if there is a better way to have the listing with the webcart in use.

Crikey, I'm impressed by your postage speed!
One box of paint has landed on my doorstep today!
They're a lot brighter than I expected, but that's the nature of online pictures.
I'll be testing them out on some cloaks later today. Intrigued by the Green transparent, and what different effects it'll lend itself to when brushed or airbrushed.

I've had a chance to try out some of the new paints and they're a bit different from what I'm used to painting with but with some practice they're great for smooth layering and wet blending and the transparent paints make for really easy to control glazes.

after the successful launch of our paint range warcolours (www.warcolours.com) we are now formulating a range of metallic paints.
we have managed to make a really good metallic paint that offers great coverage and unparalleled shine.
the price will be a bit higher though (but still cheap).
since warcolours is all about end-user involvement, we are offering 30 bottles of metallic paint for FREE*. You just have to test them for us and let us know of your comments.
Received one of your beta test metallics (Copper) with my order today, I'm mighty curious to see how it works later tonight. Seems to be very fluid, which I'm guessing it to allow for airbrush use as well?
I must say I'm really pleased that you put a little ball (?) in there as an agitator, very good idea.
Really should sit down and do a little write-up on your stuff, I've just not had time lately to give my attention to anything.

thank you for the support!
as for the fluidity of the metallics, we intend to make the actual product a bit more concentreted (less fluid) since this will be better for all uses (you can always dilute the paint but not concentrate it)
Tried out the black I got with my set last night and had a bit of issue when I tried thinning with water. It really kept its surface tension and tended to retreat from the low areas. I kept finding "holes" in coverage where it had refused to settle. Went back over it with undiluted paint and it settled fine though. Any advice?
I added Future to it and it seemed to do better, should I thin with a medium instead of just water?
"Holy Sh*&, you've opened my eyes and changed my mind about this topic, thanks Dakka OT!"
SlaveToDorkness wrote:After using your paints Ioved them! Was wanting to order everything plus the metallics, is the coupon code for Dakka still functional?
i believe all coupons have been used up. sorry for that...
gradyhawks wrote:Very nice pricing on these, comes in at £1 a bottle.
You'll have to forgive me in waiting for some reviews however before I get any!
Ah, they seem very positive! Now you've sorted metalics out I am very tempted to make the move ... just annoyed that I've got all these GW paints as I hate to have different makes and stuff.... Guess I just need to get over it!
