So I'm starting dungeons and dragons soon and although it's probably normal to design the character first before finding a miniature - I'd like to find a miniature first to base some of the details of my character off of.
But my question isn't about D&D specifically, I'm looking for a miniature from any game along the lines of the images bellow.
Also some criteria would be
- Mage / Sword Mage / Warlock
- Elven or Human
- Male
- Not bald
- Under £25 or $45 USD
- Ideally plastic not metal, although if the kit is known to have little flash and few mouldlines I'd consider not just plastic

Have you considered Reaper? They have quite a lot of variety and take a lot of inspiration from D&D/Pathfinder designs.

You could also try this range:

This is a terrible photograph, but I promise you it's a beautifully detailed metal wizard with a staff and pipe:

I was thinking Reaper as well.
"Tox 02700" was a nice model to paint, I painted up this one and gave to my brother:

The Gandalf in the old Balrog kit was one of my favorites.
He just had a very generic Wizard look - long beard, basic robes, with a sword in one hand a wooden staff raised high above obviously casting some sort of spell. He was missing his hat in that scene so the model was as well.
I acquired him recently and intend to paint him up as a dark/evil wizard for my Chaos force.

This is the wizard from Dwarf Kin'gs Hold by Mantic. It also has a few player characters and monsters: perfect addition for any DnD game.

Thanks for all the replies
I'm not sure about reaper - all of their models in the pictures look like they have a weird texture and I'm suspicious why they're so cheap compared to most companies.
Also although one of the pics I uploaded was an old wizard, really I'm not looking for a younger wizard not the typical grey hair and long bearded sage. That model in the post above looks really good actually - unfortunately it's not out till autumn though

The Reaper Bones minis are cheap simply as they have very low production costs. They are still nicely detailed for the most part, paint up as well as anything and are very durable too. Bones is definitely my favourite material after Hard Plastic for minis!
Here's some of mine painted as examples, although a Google search of 'Reaper Bones [mini name]' will doubtless turn up better stuff that should allay your fears.

I certainly give a wholehearted endorsement to the line, and you can get most of them in metal for a still-decent price if you really can't get on with Bones.

Reaper has been around for a long time and makes excellent models. The bones models are PVC like material and cheap to produce on their part. We've bought a couple and both were awesome models. The texture is just in the pics. They are, however, a SOFT material.
Reaper also sales metal minis of the same models and they are more like $6.00 or in that price range. Look at their website for Wizard or Mage or Warlock models.

Reaper do have a huge range and it seems people have a lot of good to say about them so I'll see if I can source a model from them in the future, although now I have found my Wizard!
By chance I came across minx studios the other day and this model will be my Eldarin War Mage
