Hi All

I have a griffon which l would like to have black with tinges of red as per photo attached. However l don't know if l can do that with just drybrushing as l dont have an airbrush? Can anyone help?

You'd get a decent result I think, but I'd recommend that the base colour (here the black) has a bit of red in it, to further blend the two colours.

You could possibly go for Rhinox Hide as the base color. I feel when you mix colors like Abaddon Black and Mephiston Red, you end up with a color VERY similar to Rhinox Hide. It might be worth sacrificing a model though and save the Griffon for now. Just to make sure you get the effect you want first.

This of course is assuming you use Citadel Paints, otherwise you just have to find the equivalents in the range you use.

I've been meaning to try on some Tyranids, but for their shell I was going to base coat black then dry brush with red. So basically what you aim to do.

Regardless of what base coat you choose, I feel you'll get the effect you want with dry brushing. I don't own an airbrush myself and I've changed most of my highlighting to drybrushing and it always gives me an effect I like.

Do what you love and love what you do. Like sell firewood.
