Holy Moly! 1,240 pounds for the warlord................Anyone here planning to get that beast?
I cant picture myself spending that kinda cash even though i love this hobby to bits.
Whats the biggest purchase you guys have done in the past? Mine was just 200 pounds for a bunch of terrain.

If I had enough money that a purchase like that wouldn't seem big, I'd buy it LOL.
My biggest purchase was the 40k box set (battle for mccragge) the space wolves battle force and the WHFB box set (I think 6th ed) all in 1 go back in '05 I think.
I think the total was somewhere between $100-$150 at the time.

Biggest purchase was ~$500 for a full set of the OOP FW trench system. Biggest purchase from a store and biggest single model was ~$300 for a Marauder Destroyer. I might consider saving up for a Warlord but I have so many other models that I'd rather build and paint first.

Even if I had the money, no, I wouldn't buy it. Warhammer is my 'cheap' hobby and that sort of price tag can get me some very nice things in my other interests. I'm still reeling that I bought a single Imperial Knight. A lot of money for some plastic... No matter how much I love this hobby, I am still dumbstruck by how much I have spent on what isn't much more than toys.

An investment which will potentially provide a living for you and your family is not really comparable to a frivolity like a deploy-once-a-year titan for your hobby.

I got a reaver. Novelty wore off fast and my friend purchased 3 Eldar Titans to counter it. It was no longer worth the hassle to keep around so I ended up selling it.
For anyone wanting one, unless you can do the model adequate justice the novelty of such a huge model grows old very fast.

Hmm, checking my FW order history, by single biggest order was back in 2013 for £752.50, and that was when I started to build my legion army (it included a Glaive among other things). The problem I see with the Warlord is, well, how do you transport it safely to and from wherever you're going to play with it, if you ever get to play with it?

I've recently laid down about £120 for a pair of baneblades.
I really wouldn't bother with bigger, costlier units though. At least I know I can field one of these at a time an a 1500-2000 point list (the points-zone of my gaming group).

I couldn't paint it well enough. It would annoy me looking at it if it was just ok painted. I spend 200 to 300 once a year on a FW order getting differnt things, largest was zone mortalis board, worth every penny. But I will use it way more than I could ever use a titan especially a warlord.

Cerastus Knight wing closely followed by warhound titan for my biggest single spend.
I would get a warlord if i had enough spare monies - but i'll be getting an Ordinatus or two before i go that far off the deep end; the challenge of building/painting the thing may strain the enjoyment/hardship ratio a bit much for me.

Warhound titan for me, which I then sent off to get commission painted. Came in at about £550 all in. Was awesome for a while but most of my gaming friends wouldn't play me with it so it became an expensive ornament and was recently sold.
If I could guarantee that I would regularly get to use it and I got a little inheritance money again then yeah, I would buy a warlord. Lots of ifs...

I could only ever reasonably stomach the cost of a Warhound (plus commission paint because I couldn't do it justice), but I can't justify actually paying that much money for how little I'd use it.
So extra no for me on the Warlord. Its a cool model, but I'd have to win the $50M here to justify it.

Between the plastic cadian boxes and all of the forge world conversion and support pieces the troops for my chaos renegades army came in around $800. No way will I spend 2.5 times that just for the body of a warlord, and then spend more on the weapons. As much as I like them I can't even rationalize spending the money on a chaos warhound titan either these days. Just not worth it for a model that will rarely get used if ever.

I never really drop large amounts in one hit on this hobby. The most I've probably ever spent in one go was the Space Hulk boxed set at $170AUD.
As for the Warlord, I have no interest in a big huge piece of resin that I don't really think is worth displaying in my house nor will it ever see the table. Even at half the price I wouldn't buy it.
Seeing big titans like the Warlord mostly make me think "I REALLY wish GW didn't kill Epic". Epic was such a cool game for titans and whatnot.

If epic was still around, I'd have a Warlord, two Reavers, four Warhounds, and a metric fethton of mechanised IG with Baneblade and Artillery support.
GW would get way more out of epic now that the 40k playerbase is more in the feel for larger games.

Let me put this into perspective.
I'm not willing to get a Mark V Mortis Dreadnought that my army could honestly really use due to my worries about Forge World prices, Forge World rules and working with/using resin.
So how do you think I'd feel spending over a grand on some gimmicky model that I don't think anyone would ever let me use?
Even if I was to spend that kind of money on Warhammer, I'm sure I could find better places to put it.

My group still plays Epic regularly. We've been playing since Adeptus Titanticanus and Space Marine 1st edition so have large enough collections that GW not producing them anymore is not a big roadblock for us. Do wish I could scare up some of the nurgle and slaanesh chaos daemon engines for a decent price, though. I have a massive chaos horde, but primarily have the khorne and generic daemon engines only.
