Thanks!

So I thought the free Stormcast Eternal miniature in a WD is a cool idea and wanted to buy the WD 75 despite being a 40k player. 3 days after release (WD releases on Saturday, I wanted to buy it on Tuesday evening)...

Freaking Sold Out.

But it gets even better. Listings of the White Dwarf 75 magazine can now be seen for 35+ Euros (and extra shipping) on ebay and the miniature can also be found as a separate listing with bids already jumping into the 15-20 Euro range.

It looks like the GW community is very much alive and thriving after all.

Increasingly, GW is becoming a market for collectors with either gak tons of cash to blow, or lots of time to spare, under the motto: "be there on release day and snag it, or never see it again"

Unless GW screws up AoS in the future, I think they're off to a great start, given the current demand.

GW is scared of girls. Why do you think they have so much trouble sculpting attractive female models? Because girls have cooties and the staff at GW don't like looking at them for too long because it makes them feel funny in their naughty place.

I'll give GW credit that the models in the Age of Sigmar look really great - especially the Blood Ang...errr Stormcast Eternals. I wouldn't be too quick to judge the game as a success yet though. When Uncharted Seas was released, a ton of people bought it selling it out and it was hard to for my LGS to get more in. Problem was that nobody played the game becuase the rules were so bad and there was absolutely no tournament picture. The rules in Age of Sigmar are very basic as they stand today and they don't seem like they'll translate well to a tournament setting. There are hardly any games that survive without any kind of tournaments offered (the only one I can think of is Battletech - and that is probably only still around because of nostaglia for all of us that grew up in the 80's). It is much too early to tell if Age of Sigmar resurrects the fantasy line or if is simply the precursor to its death.

I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally

I'm half wondering if the simple rules will help, as people may pick up a few models just for the banter one could have over a few games of it (although, for this to last, the normal comments about the lack of balance being an issue come back into play).

I think Age Of Sigmar will sell 100,000 copies.

However WD selling out this issue might simply be that GW printed half as many copies as usual, to avoid giving away too many free figures.

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

What demand is that?

Every WD that had extra rules in it also sold out, so its absolutely no surprise that one that came with a free mini would sell out as well.

The box set, like all GW boxed sets before it is likely to also sell reasonably well because it represents a decent value for its price.

Lets wait 6 months and for the rest of the releases for this new game and then we can see if it sells well or poorly.

My local GW had four times as many White Dwarfs as usual, and they sold out within 4 hours.

Agreed. That the initial sales go well is not really a surprise. Lots of people will pick up the starter set to see what it is all about (and because the minis are nice). Free, exclusive minis also always sell well.
Only time will tell whether the game will continue to sell or not.

But indeed, it looks like it is off to a pretty good start.
