Guardians : Watchers of The Throne : Thousand Companions

I know, I know...
Adeptus Custodians are a fad and everyone is seeming to convert them, especially now that the Age of Sigmar is coming out with the Stormcast Eternals.
Well I am doing it too! And I don’t care if everyone and their mom are doing it!
I too had the idea of converting the new 'Fantasy Space Marines' into Adeptus Custodes, but I'm not quite a bandwagoner; I converted/painted a Custodian a few years back (and posted him here for the world to see)

Now I can't take credit for the convention idea, I saw it on Spiky Bits way back when, but I was quite pleased with how it turned out. Recently when I was searching for other Custode armies and threads, I stumbled upon KrautScientist's Legio Custodes. He has made a bunch of units using the same recipie from Spiky Bits, and we even seemed to paint the same color scheme lol. Go check out this thread, his models are awesome and in inspiration in regards to an army of Custodes! So kudo’s KrautScientist!

I have always been enthralled by the idea of these Uber-marines and wanted to make a playable army out of them (GK rules... Kinda a no-brainier) But the problem with this convention is it is kinda expensive (4 kits: Grey Knights, Sanguinary Guard, Dark Angle Veterans, High Elf Warriors). With the Sanguinary Guard + DA Veterans you can only make 5 models :-/... So my dream got shelved along with many other random projects.

But now with AoS, i've got the opportunity to get large Roman centurion looking legs, torso's, arms and shoulders (with numerous different poses no less) with the Stormcast Eternals!

With no further ado, here is my mock-up of my Adeptus Custode:

Obviously very WIP here, but I want to get a general idea of the direction I was going. I'm not sure if I'm still 100% committed to the guardian spear, I feel it needs to be slightly less bulky, as well as a solid flowing shaft (this was just thrown together)

And just for show, here is a size comparison next to my old Custode and Plaugebearer :

Quite a bit larger, which I love.
I'm going to sculpt the Cape itself rather than using a plastic one, so I just stuck one on there to complete the look. But my first step is going to be sculpting faceplates and eagle visors on the High Elf helms! That should bulk up the size of the head a tad, and make it a little more to scale.
Here is some of my inspiration:

I will finish it off with some wires and hoses, as well as some pre-Unity lightning bolt symbols.
I should have a helm or two done in a day or so, I will posts my progress!
Wish me luck!

Blessed are they that reap the sinners from the sight of the Emperor.
Damned are those that consort with Chaos!
