So I finally have enough models to reach the 500 point threshold, and I might be playing a few games tomorrow. I just want some feedback on how this list looks and what could be done with it. Granted, it's a bit small, but since I am completely new to the game I'd really appreciate feedback as far as possible tactics and what little bits and gubbins to change around.

11 Slugga/Choppas
1 Boss Nob w/ PK, Bosspole, Twin-Linked Shoota
115 points.

4 Storm Boyz
1 Boss Nob w/ PK, Bosspole.
85 points.

5 Lootas
70 Points

5 Nobz
Bosspole, PK, Kombi-Rokkit, Kombi-Skorcha, Big Choppa
140 Points

Painboy
50 Points

Trukk
Red Paint Job, Reinforced Ram
40 Points

Granted, one of my lootas is actually a Mek + KMB (which brings the points to 505) but I'm assuming they'll let me use him as another loota since the place I'm going seems pretty friendly. I was planning on piling the 12 boyz into the trukk, hauling them to the frontline while the stormboyz get there first to act as a distraction. Then the nobs would move up to get into melee as well, and the lootas would just hang back and do their thing. Not exactly brain-surgery, but with only 500 points there's not terribly much you can mix up. Also, I can't find the twin-linked shoota in the weapon list in the Ork Codex, so I assume it's a weapon type described somewhere in the rulebook?

In any case, critique on any aspect of this list would help a lot. I've still got plenty of ork bits and bobs lying around from the kits, so I can change out a few things here and there.

While Powerklaws are awesome, they strike last every time. Especially in low point games, the emphasis is on a handful of strikes making the kill quick, since most players don't bring models with 3 or more Wounds. And with the Challenge system the way it is, your Characters are going to be forced to get in combat with their best/fastest models one on one. The high strength strike only works if it lands.

I'd throw in a Big Choppa on the Stormboy Nob and the Boss Nob in the Nobz. Put the Klaw on no-name McGee in the Nob Squad, like how Space Marines hide their Plasma Guns in the squad. You might not get to deal damage directly to the enemy Sergeant, but you will get some solid killing strikes on the squad itself.

The Stormboyz can actually be dropped from this list. Five Boyz is going to die quick, no matter what you're up against. They fall to Bolters with barely any effort. Those points would do better giving the Nobz some 'Eavy Armor. Makes the difference between THEM dying like Boyz to Bolters too. Adding a couple toys to fill out the list from there again and you might be just a little bit more solid.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind. The reason I went with a lot of PowerKlaws is that I just assume I'm going to be striking last as orks anyway, but I can definitely play around with that. Also, I see your point the with Stormboyz. As much as I love how they look (I think they're my favorite models so far) they're basically just regular boyz with even less of a life expectancy. I'll mess around and see what happens. Thanks!
