I don't know about you but I hate the way the storm raven looks.

So here is what I have tried to do to a second hand one I got the other day. It needs some touching up and old glue needs filling off but apart from that I think it's okay.

I prefer this because
1. It's more aerodynamic
2. Doesn't look like a flying brick
3. Doesn't have a stupid servitor that for some reason can shoot at bs 4 (I have never understood how this one can shoot better than normal)

I know the assault cannons might look like they obstruct the hurricane bolters but after carefully looking the bolsters can only shoot at an angle anyway, not straight in front because of the front hover things.

What are your thoughts?

Cool, I've been looking at something similar, myself. Did you just change the two top bits/move the guns?

Could I see shots from the front/side to get a sense of the profile?

It looks pretty cool that way. though i feel the assault cannon would still be better on the top.

maybe make a lower profile or flush assault cannon that can pop out of the turret mount.

For some reason my pictures aren't working :(

I took the assault cannons from the top turret and put them on the sides.

The I removed the vent from the top.

The easiest way is to just upload them in the dakka gallery top nav link.

I used one of the landing struts and a pair of AsCs from the ravenwing accessory sprue to make a new pop-up turret for mine. Left the air scoop off the top, and moved the grapple/rope thing from the bottom to the top to cover the (slight) gap. Looks more like a docking clamp/fuel hook up on the top back now.

While I like what the OP did (the top is very close to mine) the gamer in me wanted to maintain the top mount so there was no issues about modeling for advantage. Not that there should be a lot, going from a turret to a fixed mount. But I wanted to keep as close to the original pattern as I could and not look like a flying dumpster. Well, as little like a dumpster as I could manage...

The only time I would ever use the airscoop is if I made my own dropship, haha.

Thanks for your posts , do you think there will be an issue with the fact the guns can't rotate?

I would have thought that it would be bad for me rather that my opponent

Most of the time it’s bad for you to have fixed guns. One of the problems with the turret is that is is up top, so the body of the SR blocks it’s ability to fire at close targets. A low, fixed mount makes it easier to get everything shooting at a single target right in front. It’s a minor point, but it is there. I doubt most people would have an issue.

Just measure it from where it would normally be and the firing arc it has and call it a day,

Yeah, this Not that it's a great unit, anyhow; I don't see people that have an issue with giving SR a wider firing arc on the autocannons on the theory that the SR is a vehicle that can tilt.
