So, this is probably an odd question, and I don't overly know how to fraise it, but I want to make my guys look decayed and sort of (but not actually) made of ash. They are a Nurgle force, but instead of being infectious ooze, they're ashy And chipped and I am using normal marine models. Does anyone know how I could go about this? They do have a colour scheme but its mostly black, greys and white with a splash of red. (Black shoulder pad trims and backpack, light grey helmet and shoulders, dark warm grey for body and red for their right arms and eyes) Where they travel, an ash cloud follows at their feet and ash rains from the sky.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Cheers

if you are good with detail work, consider painting up a few and taking a dremel to them. it doesn't have to be obvious, but if you paint the holes and punctures in greys as well you may get the effect you are looking for.

some with pieces missing, some with some stuff shot away, and some that could look like colanders.

You might want to ask/move this into the P&M forum, as some of the peeps with really good tips don't participate as much here

Basically, you're talking about weathering the marine. I might suggest that after you're finished painting the model, using a sponge to get the "made of ash" look, and painting on chips and notches in the armor (with a brush).

Turning into ash or having ash on them?

I think one way is to prime black and stipple the feth out of it with a grey color so that the model looks powedery.

for the lather you can use ash colored powder pigment.

Perhaps sandpapering certain areas where they'd be crumbling? it's an interesting idea, I hope you share pics of what you do with it.

You could also base in red
Then stipple on black

Then white to cover a LOT of it.

That way it should look like still burning charcoal marines.

(I think)

Sanding down areas actually sounds like a good idea. And yeah I'll definitly post pics when I'm done with a test model!

Pigments would do the trick. Just brush some coal-colored pigments on there, seal it in and boom there ya go.

This is the colour scheme I came up with. They also have red bolter cases and anything cloth they may be wearing is also red

hmm, Forge world weathering powders? maybe drybrush portions of the armor color onto their base, like the armor/color is falling to dust right there, in the battle? Interesting Idea though, I like it.

Whoops, I misread the title and it said "How can I make my marines look shy..?". Lucky I did a double take or I'd have suggested crossing their legs and making them look down at their feet.

This might just be my favourite idea for a marine ever.
Bashful marine, he just wants the other marines to notice him and invite him to their parties.

[Adds it to the ever-growing to-do list]
