If the SH/GC exception happens, will the knight detachment take up a CAD slot or a CAD like slot?

I would advice mod'ing to just do 3 straight sources. The CAD-like thing is less than clear.

If we go with the SH/GC exception it would make sense to most likely go with 3 straight sources. We may consider going that route regardless. thx guys..

Why did you guys have to schedule it EXACTLY on the same weekend as NYC Comic Con??

Epic fail you guys. Good job.

Look at the geek/nerd social calendar next time before you decide to host this on such a weekend.

Because a lot of us work, and having the monday off for travel without losing Paid Time-Off is rather a big deal for us adults?
It's been this way for at least 5 years and none of us that have been going (who are also comic book/movie/videogame/ fans) have ever complained.

You are, of course, free to choose which hobby you would like to support and attend, but don't belabor the efforts of Ed and Bobby, John, Bishop and the rest of the BFS crew, because they work hard to put on a quality event that consistently is one of the best under 100 person GT's I have ever had the pleasure of attending in all my years of Wargaming.

And let's see. I can either a) go to BFS, spend the weekend with my close friends, drink, laugh, play and have a great time, or b) I can go to Comic-Con, spend outrageous NYC prices on food and lodging, stand in line for hours on end to see a panel or sneak preview surrounded by the great unwashed masses, look at over-priced books that I can't afford and watch as all the pre-pubescent boys lust after every woman who wears a Power Girl outfit. Not really a tough choice.

And pretty much the next day, watch every preview/panel/trailer get leaked on the internet. So I can do BFS *and* see everything I wanted from Comic-Con without the hassle. MAN FREE WILL AND CHOOSING IS AWESOME AM I RITE.

Yeah, not sure it's a tough call between overcrowded cosplaydom and relaxed socializing and drinking with one of the best GT groups every year I've ever been around, in terms of cool people to hang out with.

I'm torn on whether I'll defend my Malifaux crown or try to win another of the BFS Slayer Swords.

Have Ed set you up on a 2 tables and do both at once like a boss.

Hm. Tough call. Is the 40k tournament spread over both Saturday and Sunday or are there separate tournaments on Sunday as well?

Also my previous post was a troll post it was meant for laughs.

Guys this is a very fun event. I don't think I will make it up this year but eventually hope to get back up there for this. That being said I need to get in touch with Ed. Can anyone help me out here?

This will be my first time making it to BFS. I've heard great things. I'm bringing an absolutely absurd list that would need a perfect match-up sequence in order to win.....

But it is Rule #1 as all get out. See you all there!

    Rule #1 is Look Cool.

Joe - I think Ed is out camping, so he probably won't reply for a couple days.

I am looking forward to beer at Yardhouse at every opportunity. Leaning toward Malifaux ... mostly b/c the meta doesn't change and all my stuff is painted. Yay for the best-balanced miniatures game on the market.

Sidebar - I know a bunch of the gals are coming with us from the DC area. Others should bring theirs! They're planning on spending at least Saturday in NYC, and possibly hiking or something on Sunday.

BFS is a great event. I've attended since the begining and can not recommend it more. This will be the first year I don't play and it will only be because I'll be busy running the Malifaux end of things.

Is it possible to just play on Sunday in the 40k event?

Likely not, as it is a continuation of the previous day. But I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask.

No idea what the TOs will do, but at some GTs you can volunteer as a wringer. Sometimes players, especially on Sunday, are too hung over to pull themselves out of bed; and sometimes life just happens and they have to drop. You won't be competing for prizes, but you'll still get a game or two in.

Hi guys, don't post so much on the forums, I leave that to Ed, but I am a TO for BFS. We would definitely consider having people jump in as ringers. We have one on call if need be, but it would be nice to have someone there looking to play.

    Automatically Appended Next Post:
In terms of NY comic con, we were definitely aware of it. We have been since they started 4 years ago. But we really don't see it take anyone away. Last year I believe one person mentioned they couldn't attend our event because of it. Also, we have had that date for 6 years now, hard to justify changing it when there isn't a necessity.

Fishboy.......im back from the great outdoors !!! survived bears and a few mosquitos. Sent you a PM.

Dorian... like Bob said we could use you as a ringer for Sunday if you like. The GT only runs on Saturday and Sunday so maybe you can get the time to play both days. Its a fun Tournament and the guys who play are very chill.

Q: will the terrain be in the same style as NOVA? 2 los blockers, 2 ruins, 2 hills, 2 area terrain?

    hey man, six happens

Tentative A from someone who isn't part of organizing it: Their terrain has been built to that standard for a while, but they mix up a little bit how much it blocks and whether or not the center pieces are blockers or just cover. So, it's similar, but not the same. Also, most of their los blockers aren't as large as NOVA's (for better or worse).

I'll def. be down to be a ringer on Sunday with my dark eldar. I'm still in the process of trying to get last tickets for comic-con (they sell a batch to NYers) so if I can't go I'll def. attend the full tournament.

Cool. As long as the basic layout is the same, it helps to plan.

chinsquaz... Mikes correct, we generally have a similar layout to the Nova main layout. However our biggest difference (for better or worse) is we use 1 center Los blocker with 2 smaller los blocking ruins placed parallel to the center piece. Each table has 9 pieces of terrain on them.

I recommend some sort of ban list for SH/GC. Mostly to prevent revenant titans, the scorpion/lynx, and the like. I find that those take away somewhat of the tactics of the game.

Still on the fence about coming, due to life. Hoping to make it!
