Inspired by a tangentially related thread just a few moments ago, I decided to beg the question of what your favorite miniature sculpts out there are. This can be out of sheer admiration for the sculptor's talent or the miniature's charm, nostalgia, fluff interpretation, or any other factors. You don't have to be so mainstream as to choose a GW mini, either.

To get things started, I guess that I should post my personal favorite: Bob Olley's 1988(?) Genestealer Patriarch on Throne

It's got such great character and detail that it's hard not to love, plus it's pretty reflective of the late-80s to early-90s aesthetic that I love. I've been dreaming of finally picking up this model since I was a kid, but one day I'll finally have it...

So, Dakka, what are your favorite miniature sculpts?

You ask such a hard question.
Okay, ummm... I'd really have to think, but from GW I love the Dark Eldar Succubus model and the Mirkwood Rangers. Can't decide which ones i like best.

It'd be a shame to get blood all over my nice new outfit...

I clicked this link planning to link that Patriarch - that plus the accompanying magus with staff:

I'd also nominate the old GW Great Spined Dragon - the world's best dragon. One of the best miniatures I ever saw was from an early golden demon book, and it's the GSD without wings. I went so far a to buy one and my first tube of Milliput in an attempt to replicate it. I still have it in a box somewhere.

Oooh, there are so many to choose from...

That dragon is seriously radical. It's a shame that I haven't really felt too moved by GW's more recent dragon sculpts.
To keep the conversational juices flowing, I've been recently enjoying Hasslefree's fantasy miniatures. Kev's style is so distinctively charming that it's hard not to love those minis. What do you guys think?
Some more food for thought: do you think that CAD minis have quite the same amount of character that the classic greens do, or do you think that the artists are too far removed from the sculpt to really shine through?

Oh, I love Hasslefree Miniatures. I've Bought many Figures from them. I particularly like the Justice Sedante and Veda Ann models.

I love the Hasslefree range, it doesn't hurt that Kev and Sally are lovely people.

My favourite female of Kev's is the Tank Girl he did for charity. it's beautiful and petite. My fave other figure is probably the Judge Minty. Oddly biased there.

The most recent HF mini to really catch my eye is this one:

It's in a little bit more... modest garb than some of their other models can be, yet still packs in a lot of attitude.

Another company that I've been admiring is Macrocosm (http://www.macrocosm.co.uk/). They've done a fantastic job with their not-Squats and not-Genestealers so far, and it looks like they're doing some space-Goblins/Trolls next too!

Oh!
Coincidentally I've handled those Macrocosm miniatures, they really are nice. I had no idea they were for sale.

Those store/demo painted figures were just on a gaming table at my local, and one of the guys there told me his friend designed them. I thought he meant scratch built.

There's a genuinely lovely old school feel without the potato sculpt aspect.

So many. Both versions of Lelith Hesperax. Maugan Ra. The original Dragon Ogre. Zoats. Foundry's Revenant Elves.

Rackham. Especially Wolfen, but they boast an impressive range all around.

Can I encourage people to add pictures or links? Even if you spoiler tag them for the don't-want-to-see-a-million-big-images folks, not everyone knows the sculpts to which you're referring and it'd be nice to see them here

I can get behind Captain Korvydae, that is just an awesome looking model. Also, Wyrd Minis have great sculpts. Some of my favorites are Tuco and Jakob Lynch from Malifaux

The dragon itself is nice, but the rider is phenomenally sculpted too. I've yet to brave it for fear of not doing it justice; it's that good.

Is that a chaos dragon with the two heads actually being one split in half? If so it's an amazing idea. I may have to google for more pics. Original sculpt or conversion?

Another favorite of mine is this beaut:

For me, there was a solid six-year gap between buying this model and finally putting it together. It is one big chunk of pewter.
