This reminded me of one of my buddies in the Marines. When asked how he wanted to die he said when he turned 70 he would say goodbye to his family, strip down to boots and pants only and then walk out into the woods and look for a bear to get into a fist fight with. Because if he died his grand kids would be able to say "Grandpa died fist fighting a bear" or he would win and he could say "I beat up a bear in a fist fight"

A black bear is probably the easiest to fight off. Black bears aren't confrontational at all. A brown bear or Grizzly are both FAR more dangerous
