So, I started making an Ork army, and found progress to be painfully slow. Maybe keeping a blog will force me to be more prolific.

Anyhow, I made up these guys for a kill team campaign at the local GW back in April.

Here's half a squad of Boyz in 'Eavy armor (I used em as Kammandos during the campaign)






Led by a Nob with a Power Klaw, Twinlinked Shoota, with a Boss Pole (Kontrol Konsole). I'm waaaay too proud of how the back of the servoharness worked out, but I should really paint the top part of it to look like it's glowing and such.




Then there's these three bikers. I really should have drilled out their gun barrels, but hopefully I can do it now without too much trouble. The UltraBeakie guy has a ton of sights to represent having rending during the campaign. I figured to an Ork more sights = more accuracy.




I also did this little guy to represent a Tank Busta. This was my first try at free hand checks, consequently, I hate doing free hand checks!
The store owner pointed out he looks like he wants to grow up to be a Dreadknight someday. In honor of that, I'm planning on re-visiting the idea of making the pipe he's holding look like a "Nemesis Power Pipe". (Again, way too proud of the servo harness).




Then followed a long period of things that weren't Orks, it took me until mid July before I finished 'ol Looted Logan Slay here. I want to use it as a Wartrakk Skorcha, hence the two pigs with flame throwers. Only thing is that it's a little big for that, but "Big is Best" right?
Also, I still need to 'ard coat the control screens, and there's a few lenses I forgot to do too.




Finally, I made some time to finish these guys, who I've named "Da Bot Grots", in one week end. I'm using them as Mega Nobs, and I may hold off on painting them in the interest of getting more things assembled and primed before winter hits.




I gotta figure out if I should finish up the looted Rhino(s) for the Bot Grots and 'Ard boys, work on some Deff Koptas, or do some HQs (which will be a Big Mek on a bike with KFF and Da Finkin' Kap, and a Warboss on a bike with attack squig and Head Woppa's Kill Choppa).

Really leaning towards Deffkoptas, as it involves more Grots. But should really work on some transports (that way I could maybe use them in a game!... which would mean more time not making more Orks... darn).

If you don't mind me asking, what's the container in the background of your Mega Nobs? Looks like a bolter ammo box to me.

It is a bolter ammo box. It was what the limited edition of 5th came in.

The Blue Scribes of Tzeentch are P'tarix (who can write but can't read), and Xirat'p (who can read but can't write).
These would be Da Green Grots of Gork and Mork! Bob (who can't read or write), and Bob (who can neither read nor write).

I'm going to be using them as a Deffkopta. Counts as twin-linked Rokkit Launcha because they know the spell mgic missle! But really should count as KMB, with Gets Hot! because of illiteracy.

Looted Zoanthrope!

This army's mad, ridiculous, and inexplicable in all the right ways!

So, I went to tournament last month. Painted like crazy to get as much of the army painted as possible.

It's amazing how quickly you go from "I can get this all painted in time", to "I can get this at least basecoated and shaded in time", to "I can get this basecoated in time", to finally accepting "Three colours is all I really need right?"

Anyhoozers, here's what I got.


This Trukk is actually finished! Love the Taurox kit.

Got the mesh at the back to be hinged and everything.


It'll eventually have more Orky bits.


I tried to make the screen look cracked. Looks more like a spider made its home there.


I got pretty good at doing windows.


I call this squad of Boys, Da Deffwatch.

Counts as Meganobs. I have to practice wet blending before I try doing their swords.


After making these guys, I must say that I hate the CSM bike kit, and love the Scout Marine one.

Lootas. I put the Grot with the servo harness in with them for now, until I can make more Tanks Bustas forit to go with.


Meks, named Rivet Skull, Screw Head, and Weld Noggin', in honour of Nail Brain from DOW 2.


Wartakk Skorcha. Baal Pred Flame turret to compliment the looted Space Wolf Sleigh.


Deffkoptas. The Disk of Tzeentch is done, the looted Dark Angels bike is base coated and washed, the looted Harlequin bike needs some free hand clubs, diamonds, washes, and highlights.


I'm going to eventually make it look like the Dune Crawler is chained down. So, with two weeks left before Astronomi-con Toronto, this thing was not even assembled yet. That's when I decided that it'd be a great idea to make all the doors open. Also, the rear treads are magnetized (so I can show it as immobilized on the table top), and the gunner is magnetized, and his hatch closes (in case I get a weapon destroyed). Because I have my priorities totally correct.

Some really cool ideas, gonna 'ave to loot some fer me Blood Axes!

Dat Taroux trukk tingy, is roight proppa, it is. I tinks me Mek Boss Lojakk wuld likes dat idear fer sho, gonna loot it an see if'ns he'll rewardz me wif a new shoota.

Quick note for all you proppa Meks out there wanting a Taurox of yer very own.

1) It's an amazing kit, tons of great bits for looting.

2) There is an "official" way to model it as open topped. you can google it pretty quick, but there's two bars that come in the kit, that are meant to go over the back section instead of the roof. I'd suggest doing that, having the cab enclosed, and putting a rokkit laucha in the turret because....

3) Despite the fact that the Ork Warbuggy driver is the same proportions as the Taurox driver, it's an absolute pain to clip and modify him to fit into the driver seat while holding the steering wheel.

Another quick note, originally, I was going to remove the Soulstones from the chests of the Wraithguard, and replace them with wires going back into the Grot pilot, but then I realized it's way funnier if the Soulstone remains intact, so the Eldar git has to watch everything that's going on.
