After a visit to WHW I felt quite inspired to recreate some of their scenery.

I set around collected worse for wear Leman Russ and here is the end result.

Got a valk next!

Lol everyone asks if I hacked 3 up, yes I did!

Although all had seen better days, came in various stages of paint and disrepair.

Sure. For the rust:

Prime black
Paint mournfang brown (I wasn't too careful in getting a solid colour)
Stripple with troll slayer orange
Stripple with ryza rust over a smaller area the the troll slayer
Sponge black over certain areas (wiping loads of excess off)
Sponge metal colour over certain areas (wiping loads off again)
FW medium desert powder in the recess's

Really quite cheap in the grand scheme of things.

Takes a while but via ebay and the facebook trading pages you can get russ's at £10-15. £5 for the mdf base.

A single GW building ruin costs £25. In this case the 3 bits came in at about £36 (including trade value). I'm doing a valk next, cost me £8 as its missing the stand, canopy and some of its weapons. Nice one.

Just takes time to get them all.

He's talking about the Gulf war when American forces attacked retreating Iraqi forces on the highway that leads to the city of Basra. If you google "Highway of Death" as it was called you get some pretty graphic pictures.

Anyway, good looking models the rust is excellent!

Favorite's definitely the first closeup- it's so hard to make tanks look collapsed rather than like they just stopped or somehow got buried.
