I like your reports quite a bit. I personally prefer the dread mob as well. The ork walkers have a ton of character and once I get them painted it will be great. Currently I've got about 6000-7000 points in ork walkers and its great. I haven't used the meka/mega dreads yet but I will once I make some. I personally like the orkanauts quite a bit. Anyway keep it up its hard to find dread mob reports anywhere else!

My Armies:
Orks about 15000-16000 mostly unpainted but slowly being worked on
Militarum Tempestus about 2000 points just built
Inquisition about 2000 points unpainted
Officio Assassinorum 570 unpainted

Thanks. I absolutely love playing the list. It can be a bit hard for some opponents to deal with, as you can lose a ton of walkers and still have quite a punch remaining. Sometimes I feel that roughly 75% of the army is just there to absorb the shots so the remaining 1/4 can get the claws into play.

It also speeds up the game considerably, as most opponents immediately can't use 33% to 50% of their armies abilities when faced with only AV values. (the bikes almost always die early on).

I've considered dropping the bikes and taking six more killa kans...but then I really like the bullet soaking the bikes do, and sometimes they do major work! Plus then I don't really know what I'd do with the painboy and big mek.

The meka dread is ok. Its gun options are absolute crap, but if it gets into combat, it has 6 str 10 ap2 shred or sunder attacks (depending on buzz saw or claws).

The mega dread on the other hand...is a super star. He can take two heavy flamers and a supa skorcha (str 6 ap3 flamer). So he just eats stuff.

Those both sound cool to me. The mek can take a KFF too right? So he and the mork can have one.

IA8 is due soon for an update.
I saw you took 2 gork instead of a mork for 5+ invul aoe. Do you find it doesn't help much or just the gork weapons better?

You could give the mek a kff or mff for 5+\4+ invul vs shooting to a gork but that seems like a lot of points for a cc army. Can also give the mek mega armour giving you another pk atk and kustom blaster.

The gorkanaut is much better for dealing damage. If terminators deep strike the morkanaut can do damage but otherwise he may not do much. I personally bring one of each and the big mek gets a MFF and goes in the gorkanaut. That's my view anyway. I don't know his reasoning but it seems to work well.

Also greggles I agree the majority of it feels like its fodder. Although I made almost all my KFF saves and only lost 2 kanz before I was at the enemy. They surrendered turn three...

+1 Cranect. The mork is lack luster except for the KFF. The KFF cripples you, because you bunch everyone together to stay under the mystical shield, which makes you vulnerable to blast weapons hitting multiple dreads at once.

I've always found the KFF a crutch that doesn't really do much in the dread mobs. With the points saved off the KFF, you can take more dreads, which generally is better. Plus most of the time you are getting 5+ cover saves from terrain (4+ if you are lucky from ruins). I tend to lead with the av13 dreads, which gives the remainder 5+ saves (or out of LOS completely if behind the gorks). The FW dreads come with 5++, (meka with it will not die), and it will not die on the mega is 5 points. So they are generally in the lead.

Ha Cran, if the dread mob makes it half way up the table without taking any losses (or minimal), it's generally game over for many armies.

But ya, the gorks are there for rampage mainly, and absorbing shots. That's it. I actually tried a mork for awhile, slowed everyone down, never killed anything. The gorks tear through things, Str 10 ap1 + rampage is awesome. Even if you throw a bunch of trash units at them, they still eat through them pretty quickly.

Plus the gorks str 6 bzzzt gun has a 36 inch range, which means it can actually reach out and make things jink.

Keep in mind fellas, I am NOT a competitive player. I've gone 0-6 when in a GT. (though three games were lost just barely (1 or 2 points)).

Oh I'm nowhere near competitive. I just like to have a good time. The rampage is awesome I've had people think they can take it and charge. Then they lose half the squad to overwatch and the other half due to rampage. Also d3 HoW is amazing. I had a mork and a dread kill belakor by sandwhiching him from 4 wounds left XD

Aye, the +D3 really adds up. I wish I could add the FW dreads under the formation umbrella to give them ere we go and +D3, they'd be much more effective. (Especially because their default str is 10).

Do you know if we can add more dreads to the formation then the formation lists? Everytime I pull it up in battlescribe, it acts like I can add more dreads...but the formation is pretty specific in the 3x3 kans, 3 deffs, 2 gork/mork, painboy and bigmek...

I would say dreads no. It says the kanz must include three models. I would rule you could add more there because if you have five you have at least 3 but people might say it doesn't say at least. Of course to avoid it I just bring three as well. Although I can't imagine why they would limit it to three since that discourages the buying of kanz. I think its there so that you can't bring it for under 1000 points personally.

Oh have you tried the gorkanaut krushin krew yet? At 2000 you can take it and the dread mob barebones and its hilarious.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I really hope when IA 8 is Redon then they all get ere wo go with it. It's just such a huge bonus for the dreads. I tried the FW list with the great waaagh detachment and it was fun but missing ere we go definitely hurt. Deep striking dreads was great though.

Hahah no i haven't...but I found that the dreads REALLY need ere we go. So I never even looked at that formation...but having 5 gorks would be ridiculously awesome.

I figured the same with the formation. Thanks for answering! I think just having four kans would be pretty helpful. Six is a bit much in a single squad.

Ya no problem! I agree having 4 could help a lot. 5 gorkanauts is a bit ridiculous but its so much fun. The look on your opponents face when they see you having nothing less than 11 armor is priceless. Also I don't run them in the shooting phase if I can help it because they can shoot sooo much. That 15+ shots really freaks people out. Just played skitarii for the first time over the weekend and s6 ap4 eats through them like no other.

Haha, I always laugh when they freak out over the 3d6 shots...then I end up doing like 4 wounds after shooting 14 times or something.

I might have to try the 5 gork list, that is pretty awesome, thanks for that!

Dude I love you. That is so fu_$!&*@)(& awesome. Hahahah

Hahaha ya that 3d6 is great. Then when they get used to 2\17 hitting, you hit 5/6 and all wound. Yep definitely give it a try if you have the models. I also ran an 1850 list with two units of trukk boyz and a warboss with two morkanauts jn a cad and then the krushin krew to fit 5 orkanauts into 1850. It did pretty well too. Although the other guy didn't have a ton of anti armor but was ok with letting me test my new models out.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
When you test it I want to see how it does. I've only ever done it in an apocalypse battle and it just doesn't have the same impact as it probably does in a 2000 point game.

It'll be awhile. I have to get more gorks. I might try a game using a knight and the mega/meka to try it out. (before diving in). Having no non AV values on the board would be pretty sweet.

That understandable. Ya definitely test it before buying the very expensive gorkanauts. I got all mine off eBay and the 3 gorks came with a stompa, dread, 3 kanz, 6 meganobz, 3 shokk attack guns, and some gretchin. So i figured that was a good deal and grabbed it. But ya that many hull points and making weapons less than str 5 useless is great. Even tau struggle because our shooting is more effective than theirs at that point.

Thanks so much! Also faced nids this past weekend, won due to their warlord periling and grounding himself directly in front of the gorkanaut. Oops. Orks don't need no anti air! FMC's come to us!

Last year at LVO, a fellow was running a beautiful Goff dread mob in the actual GT. I don't think he did awful, but those gorks are a huge liability when D weapons show up. So many points for something so easy discarded!
