Hey Dakka, it has been years since I have been active on this site, the past few years have seen me jump from one game to another and regrettably dump all of my 40k minis at one point. But ever since last year I have begun to jump into the minis hobby again, this time with renewed determination. This past summer I decided to launch a brand new project, I still have an interest in GW games, especially 40k and have collected a bunch of 40k minis once again.
However I didn't just want to add more projects onto my 40k pile.
I looked into Necromunda and was introduced to the Ash Wastes rules set, which has a very post-apoc/mad max vibe with its vehicle rules and its ability to cross over with some GorkaMorka scenarios with some tweaking. This project started to take shape as a few Necromunda models, but was put on the back burner in favor of more 40k (which is about the only things my friends want to play).
What really gave this project purpose for a while and the ability to get off the ground was RPG's. I convinced a few friends to gather for a game of RIFTS, a post-apoc RPG with fantasy elements, having just seen Fury Road and with most of us being MM fans already, I decided to build upon that theme.
Our group's adventure ran for the whole summer and by the end we were having our own road wars and compound assaults with models I built myself. But all good things must end and with the summer coming to a conclusion so did the game.
These miniatures are all boxed up now, I would like to make more sometime soon perhaps I will start chasing the Necromunda idea again. For now I decided I would create a project log here and share all the crazy creations that I have made in the past few months. If people really enjoy this stuff I could always keep making more vehicles and gangers.

Now for the details:
I have built the vehicles (barring the interceptor which is an old promotional toy) out of 1/32 and 1/48 Die Cast toy cars. You can easily find the raw materials for these at drug stores, toy stores, supermarkets and on the internet. For the most part these were made on the cheap, with the toys costing around 5-20$. They are converted with a ton of GW bits and plasticard.

Well I am having a slow day at work so here is another update.

This vehicle was inspired by Nux's car in Fury Road. It started off as a red Ford Coupe I found in a Pathmark for $5

Some armor plating and a new paintjob later it looks pretty good. The thundersitcks are made from lizardmen spears with the arms/hands shaved off.

Unfortunately this car was created after my RIFTS game so it hasn't seen the tabletop in any way as of yet.

Here is the last update for today:

A wastelander car, started out as a 55 Cadillac.

I really wanted to paint something pink.

Everything is really great, I've been looking to make a post apocalyptic car for awhile and this gave me tons of inspiration.

Today's update will consist of something a bit bigger.

I built this oil rig out of a $15 toy tanker off ebay, went for the road warrior look.

Because we’re here,lad...

Absolutely brilliant! Love the pink Cadillac. Looks likes the one that got flamed in the second Mad Max film.

Subbed!

I love those little moments between the first kiss and the pepper spray...

New week, New update.

Here is one of my favorite creations, a 50's Ford panel van I purchased at a CVS pharmacy for $4.
The toy itself was a bit busted up already and I had to re attach one of the wheels. I decided to go for the Buzzard look on this vehicle, cover it in spikes and create a harpoon launcher for the mounted gun.

Just noticed that spelling error

I will have much more to show off in the coming weeks, I built a giant war rig that can be seen in the first pic of the thread, I will showcase it at some point.

I also have a few 1/32 Dune Buggies I found at a grocery store that I haven't started yet.
Eventually I want to get around to posting some of the Ash Wastes battle reports I plan on writing up.
One of them will feature a re-enactment of the opening chase from MM1.

Could we get a batrep of the Buzzards scene in Fury Road?

Was looking through some pics today and thinking about doing an update, figured I would show these.
Back in the summer I took quite a few pictures of my ongoing RIFTS game, there was one instance where the players had to scout an enemy base, attack it and finally make an escape.
It was a great session and the models made it all the better.

here are some highlight shots, some of the vehicles I have showcased yet, but will in due time.

The cars are excellent. Would like to see some of the riders, though! Any neat conversions?

I will at some point document some of the riders/fighters there are indeed some great conversions to be seen.

But for now onto today's update, It's hot rod Friday.

This vehicle was build out of a 1/32 Chevy Impala and was originally intended to be apart of a MM1 selection of vehicles (which is still an ongoing project that a friend of mine is taking over)
I decided to work on this car because the design just looked so fun. It was a pretty easy job with the bonnet stacks and hood ornament made from spare GW pieces and bits of sprue. The flames are transfers from an old model car, the vehicle was also weathered a bit to make it look like it was driving through the desert.

What makes this car memorable was the life it took on in my wastelander RPG, it became the designated party transport after being liberated from some NPC's (using lots of bullets of course), It's a fitting vehicle for the party because it looks as crazy as their characters (the trunk was also stocked with a steady supply of anti-tank weapons as well).

Also somewhat strange is that this car barely ever took any damage in game (which is ironic), as many vehicles the party acquired/stole were often destroyed in spectacular chases and firefights. The role it played on the table really made this car probably one of the most memorable pieces I have built.
