So I tried to airbrush some 15mm panzer 4's today, and look what happened. Is it my mix? Has my paint gone off? It did seem thicker than usual before I mixed. Could it be the weather? And is there anything I can do to remedy the damage? And in case it isn't clear in the image the paint has settles in lots of little drops, and looks a little thick. It seemed fine when I tested it in wood :/

Could be that the plastic is heavily contaminated with oils and stuff from processing, Did you wash it before painting?

Air pressure too high/too much paint flow, not a good enough primer...

I found the following pretty useful:

My first thought was contamination, most likely on the model but potentially might be in the paint. Maybe a bad primer coat. But those are just guesses, I've not seen that particular effect on any of my own models to know.

Also, don't test on wood (or paper or cardboard), test on plastic. It's always easier to airbrush on to a somewhat porous surface than it is to airbrush on to plastic or metal so it's not a good representation.

I also sprayed a turret and that appears to have come out fine.

Should my vallejo paint have bee really thick? I did buy it about 2 months ago, and there's no telling how long that was in the flgs before that :/

Not sure what went wrong with airbrush, but I think it looks kind of cool. Give it a wash with some brown/red and it might look like bubbled up rusty paint.

I take commissions, PM me if you are interested http://www.demihumanpaints.com/
