Been on hiatus for work related reasons, however finally got my first test model done and want to hear your guy's thoughts. Plan to use the Forgeworld Paint Scheme of the Imperial Fist Templar Brethren as my paint scheme, and going with my own chapter, the Knights of Dorn, basically a Black Templar/Imperial Fist look. All my standard Bolter guys will have the Sanguinary Guard Bolters and CCW's to give them more of that BT feel, while normal Special and Hvy. Weapons will be used as normal.

While the Left Shoulder Pad will have the Imperial Fist symbol, the only thing I am currently debating is if I should keep the Right Shoulder Pad with the Templar Cross, or should I just keep it blank or use it for whatever Unit Choice they are. Anyways here are the pics and tell me what you think. B&C Pic is the scheme I am going with.

Good chance I will just stick with the Black Templar theme as they have always been a favorite Chapter of mine, but I just wanted your thoughts on this idea first mates.

Needs more color. I would suggest doing a dark grey instead of black and possibly changing the grieves to yellow

H.B.M.C.- The end hath come! From now on armies will only consist of Astorath, Land Speeder Storms and Soul Grinders!
War Kitten- Vanden, you just taunted the Dank Lord Ezra. Prepare for seven years of fighting reality...
koooaei- Emperor: I envy your nipplehorns. <Magnus goes red. Permanently>
Neronoxx- If our Dreadnought doesn't have sick scuplted abs, we riot.
Frazzled- I don't generally call anyone by a term other than "sir" "maam" "youn g lady" "young man" or " HEY bag!"
Ruin- It's official, we've ran out of things to talk about on Dakka. Close the site. We're done.
mrhappyface- "They're more what you'd call guidlines than actual rules" - Captain Roboute Barbosa
Steve steveson- To be clear, I'd sell you all out for a bottle of scotch and a mid priced hooker.

Hmm I will consider it, however I was trying to stick with both black Templar and Imperial Fists hence the black color scheme. That being said, do you think I should stick with both the Imperial Fists and the Black Templars symbols on each shoulder pad or do you think I should just do one or the other?

Are they going to be a crusading chapter a-la the Black Templars? (Do you intend to field Crusader Squads and not take any psykers?) Or more of an Imperial Fists successor a-la the Crimson Fists?

That'll answer your question on your chapter livery. If they are from the Templars/crusader style I would go with more templar and less fits/traditional markings.

If they're more like the fists, then I would limit the templar iconography and do more fists with right shoulder squad markings, etc.

As far as coloration goes, maybe paint one or both knee pads yellow to give a little splash of color to go along with the helmet and shoulder pads.

I like the concept & theme. Looking forward to seeing some paint on your figures also. Good luck with the army!

Take it easy.

You don't know me son, so I'll explain this to you once: If I ever kill you, you'll be awake, you'll be facing me, and you'll be armed.

With color being restricted mainly to shoulder pads, it looks more like Deathwatch than anything else. It's up to you if you want minimal color but I'd recommend at least matching the casing of the bolter and the chainsword to the shoulder pads.

So this could, in theory, use this as IF and BT?

I like it, alot!
