Pathfinders might put me over by a couple points, I think this list came out to 1848. You're definitely right about the
ML support, and that is definitely where this list falls short.

Not sure about the PENchip, the only thing I have left to remove from a unit is the Shield
gen on the stormsurge

It would depend on whether or not the loss of durability outweighs the increased ability to take out vehicles or
MCs.

Also if you fire all three gun rigs at the same flyer only the one with the commander gets to use skyfire right? The other two would have to fire snapshots I think. Could be wrong though...
Lastly why the stormsurge without heavy marker support? I find that the best thing they have going for them is the destroyer missle alpha strike. I agree with scrapping the pirahna for pathfinders, at least that way your markers are slightly more survivable being in two seperate units.
As to the question of ion vs fusion I would take the ion all day long. Better range and you don't ever want anything to be close enough to take advantage of the melta special rule anyway. Plus you already have the D shots from your shoulder mounted guns so I wouldn't worry about not having enough anti vehicle. The fusions just seam like massive overkill against anything but warlord/reaver Titans.
No, the
CAD is regular Tau.
I'm pretty sure only the commander can use skyfire... like 90% sure. It'd be pretty cheesy otherwise
lol. You're definitely right about the lack of markerlights in the original list - I added a bunch more, so the 'surge will be much more supported! For the Supremancy Armor I agree about the eradicators - the stormsurge missile and the multi driver should do most of the heavy lifting. If I happen to fun into a wraithknight, the 6 S9 AP2 shots should put a dent in it.
