I'm hoping this picture shows up properly but this is my first fully painted model and I'm looking for feedback aside the 'thin your paints!'. It honestly didn't look too bad when I got it in focus, it only showed up when I put flash on imo

Doesn't look bad, not sure if its from the camera or not but the skin looks like it could use a little highlight or shading to make it pop out a bit more to contrast with the blue. Other than that, its always good to see a fellow Deffskull popping up in the painting sub-forum!

Weird, thought it would show. Do know what you mean, it looks good having the edge highlight on the green as shown in picture

At least I only have 89 boyz to go! Can only get better

I think its the camera issue, when I went in for a closer look the face of the Ork started looking fuzzy and out of focus. I can sort of see where you're going. Either way, its certainly good enough for a boy. I still have dozens of boyz to go through myself for my Green Tide, best of luck to you!

Its definitely camera/lighting issues, thats always a constant battle for me since the only bright source of light i have at all is a desklamp with a 13W LED in it (to give you an idea, thats brighter than a 100W regular bulb) which either floods the crap out of my model or my camera picks up "ribbons" of light.

Try going outside with a white box w/ no lid and missing 1 side. Natural light tends to give you good pictures if you dont have a mini-studio lol.

Onto the model: better than you may think for a first model. Its not grungy and it has a fair bit of detail. You have the talent in there, just not the practice. Keep at it!

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

From what I can tell you've done a very quick and basic job with it... I approve of the blue war paint and think it looks good, but that gun is just flat and needs shade, especially in those holes, and a more metallic look to it. Also, you goofed up with that blue highlighting on the gun, too.

It's pretty well done, However it would probably look a little better if you shaded the model with Agrax Earthshade but that's just my personal preference.

You've got a good standard base there that's perfectly acceptable if you're going to be doing 90 boyz! If you wanted to take it to the next level I'd give the base a shade with Agrax to add some depth to the ground and just go round the base with the colour once more to make it nice and clean.

For the mini itself I'd suggest lightening the green and blues up by one tone as a highlight leaving the existing colour in the recessed areas just to define the muscles and edges a little more.

If you'd like to make your metal a bit beaten up, try using some Typhus Corrosion in small areas and drybrush them with orange to get a nice rust effect (Ryza Rust works great for this).

Keep it up, practice makes perfect and you're going to get a LOT of practice if you're painting Orks!
