I'm a painter and a competive yet joking 40k gamer, and I've been wondering if I'm good enough to commission I've only been painting for almost a year and I think I paint pretty well what do you think?

I think you would be. It's not Golden Demon quality but then again most people don't want that. If I could actually afford it I might have hired you.

TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

I would be cheap for tabletop because I paint for fun and I would just have fun painting different armies then mono nurgle army and renegades

One very important question: how quickly can you paint like that? Nobody wants basic-level commission painting that takes a month to get a squad of infantry finished, but if you can do a 1500 point army over a weekend at that level you might have a market.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. |

A lot of people would be very happy wit that quality for tabletop, yes. And if you really can produce at that speed, i think you'd have no problems finding customers.
Build up a gallery of different sized examples, and you'd be good to start showing folk.

As long as you are not the single worst and slowest painter in the entire world then the potential is there to be a commission painter. Personally I wouldn't pay for your painting service at any price, its juse not good enough. Your assembly looks fairly neat so if you were UK based and cheap enough then I might consider you for some rank and file construction.

As long as you don't care how much money you make The thing that stopped me going in to commission painting was realising it'd take me 2 hours to paint a model that I'd sell for only a few bucks over the cost of the model in the box. I'd say to make commission painting worth while you want to be able to paint faster than average.

'wondering if I'm good enough to commission'
You'll know when someone pays you to paint their models !
In the meantime I'd recommended learning how to take better photos of your models, and work on different minis to build up a portfolio.
If you don't have an airbrush and compressor, get one pronto. Cuts out loads of time when applying base colours and basic shading/highlighting
