Subject: Dynamic bases, how should I do them without altering gameplay?

Way back when Shrike could take Shrike's Wing (talking around 2005 here) I had a Raven Guard army. I had tons of jump marines as well as a full 10-man wing with lightning claws. I thought jump packs were really cool and I wanted to accentuate the model's which had them. So after purchasing a big bag of transparent drone stands (GW used to sell them in a big bag, don't know if they still do) I modeled each and every one of my jump marines on top of a drone stand as if they were using their jump pack. It looked neat and I got a lot of positive comments on them.
The thing is, however, it was very difficult to play with them due to their awkward height and LOS. One match in particular I remember having an issue was when there was a large piece of canyon terrain. I ran shrike's wing through it so the canyon would block LOS. It would have, if they were on a regular base. However, them being on the "mid-jump" base, the enemy could easily draw LOS from their weapons to my model's chest's. I told my opponent that they could shoot them, it was me who modeled the wing like that and he had LOS.
Anyway, so now I have some Tau and would like to do some dynamic poses. I don't want to sully the integrity of the game by making the LOS somewhere the model is not usually (yes, I know I can legally make all my models crawling on their stomach, but I find that to be a Dbag move). I was hoping somebody could shoot me a few ideas. I have a few already that I will post to show what I mean.
A big THANK Y OU in advance!
Edit: I have crisis suits, riptides, broadsides, and drones. I personally think the kneeling riptide is okay, since GW has pictures of it in some of their official stuff. However, I don't think a kneeling crisis suit is ok, since I don't see GW having anything like that. I would love to hear your opinion on it though.

Resin Printer (minaitures) is a 4K printer with one of the largest build volumes available for a resin printer (192mm x 120mm x 245mm) with an amazing .01mm resolution! This professional printer is one of the best resin printers on the market!
FDM Printer (terrain) also has one of the largest build volumes available for an FDM printer (400mm x 400mm x 450mm) and has an amazing ,05mm build accuracy.

I should think this would not matter. That's like saying "he's not holding the weapon it says he has, so he can't use it." By that logic, Eldar grav-tanks can't hide behind squat buildings, because their base has them up so high, but they can skim right along the ground. Also, jet/jump-pack models can elect to hoof it, I believe, so if the models in question elect to be "on the ground", when their move is over, the appearance of the base shouldn't matter, within reason. If they don't have a rule that says "hover", I assume at th eend, they are on the dirt, and thus in said ravine, safe from enemy fire.
So, I'm not an expert in these things, and am mostly just speaking my mind, here. Someone else might come along now, and claim I am wrong, but I'm rather sure it should be good. The new Assassin models would be hard-pressed to be so stealthy if hey couldn't hide behind stuff, due to their new show bases.

I know it is legal, it is just really a pain. Take my jump marines for example. In order to play them so their LOS is accurate, I had to place a standard jump marine (on a regular base) as a substitute any time there could have been LOS blocking terrain. Its just a lot easier not having to do that and not having models at different height then what they should be.
