Ok.. im fully aware that Honsou doesn't have terminator armour in any of the books, and I'm already prepared for the backlash. That said as honsou is the leader of my iron warriors, I wanted a terminator armoured version to take on heavier armoured opposition. Obviously standard terminator armour wasnt going to cut it so I decided to convert the cataphractii captain from betrayal at calth. This involved removing the weapons, building a custom head and of course adding Honsou's trademark necrodermis arm and axe. The head is made up of two parts, the face from the murderfang dreadnought, and the back of a standard sm captain head which I bulked up with greenstuff. Then I gave him a combi melta for when I just needed a tank to die and a modified beastman arm and axe. He's still not completely finished as there are a few details I need to sort and I need to glue him to his base. Anyway hopefully the diehard Honsou fans will forgive me for breaking from the fluff.

He may not wear TDA in the novels but really, the model captures the feel and vibe of the artwork pretty well I would say; the moment I saw the Calth model those detail parts screamed Iron Warrior to me so seeing someone achieve such a great result with it is nicely reassuring, ha! Great model, kudos.

Looks good to me! Just because he doesn't have it in the novels doesn't mean he there isn't some sitting around somewhere that he uses occasionally.

He looks awesome, and I'm sure after his last novel he might upgrade himself to some nice Cataphractii Terminator Armour.

The silver is leadbeltcher, washed with indian ink which was then buffed with a one inch brush. Then sealed with a sepia tinted matt varnish and highlighted with leadbeltcher and runefang steel. The gold is balthasar gold, army painter strong tone shade, balthasar gold and ghennas gold, army painter soft tone, ghennas gold and auric armour gold. Thinned soft tone and highlighted with auric armour gold. It's a time consuming method, but I like the effect it gives.
