First off; look at which brands are the easiest to get parts for.
Other than that it's just a question of what you want to do with it and how much you're willing to pay.
H&S are a very decent choice as you can use the same body for different size needles and nozzles, and they're easier to service than some competitors.
Since you're in the US I'd also recommend looking into Badger, they're good value brushes and the company has amazing service with the head honcho himself often doing customer support.
There's also this brush, which a friend of mine highly recommends and uses more than his H&S brush.

Sorry to hear its broken. I had something similar to yours back when I first got into airbrushing and was not happy with it at all (could have been me being a noob with it too). I recently got a Master brand G45 Airbrush from tcpglobal's website as a Christmas gift (I think my wife got tired of me bitching about my gakky brush lol). While the brush was only about $50, it is fantastic for the price, not to mention the .2mm needle and nozzle have helped my fine lines immensely. I am by no means a professional and my opinion could be moot, but I am very happy with this airbrush. I haven't had a single clog yet, Its much easier to clean than my old g22 and my Iwata Neo (which are basically glorified g22-23's). I was originally looking at the Badger rk-1 Krome as it has great reviews for the price, but this brush has all the same features and more! There is a built in trigger limiter in the back to limit pullback, open cut-away in the front just under the paint cup for cleaning, inline pressure regulator under the cup as well. Not to mention the 1/2 ounce cup holds more paint and prevents some silly spills. I recently have been working on a Rhino tank for my Alpha Legion Chaos Marines army and I have been using this airbrush for most of the work other than the line highlighting at the top most edges and the metal damage at the bottom of the sides were done with a sponge but the drawings on it were all done with the airbrush as well! I strongly urge the importance of a decent compressor as well. My first one was only about 4 inches tall and 2 inches wide, barely ran, let alone produce consistent air. Not sure what you have as your first post didn't mention anything about your compressor. There are like NO reviews on the g45 online but i highly recommend it! If you have any questions ask away!

Sorry I didn't quite catch your question, are you just asking how to fix it or suggestions on a new airbrush? Have you pulled it apart or know what's broken?
Airbrushes are pretty tough, you can damage a needle easily, maybe a nozzle (though usually not if it's assembled) but the rest of it isn't that easy to damage.
What are the symptoms? It might just be something simple that can be fixed.

I recommend the Neo Iwata.
It's much easier to take apart and put back together than other brushes I've used.
The air lever button has a ball joint so its really easy to re-seat when you've taken it out.
Also the curved rocker that contacts the air leaver button is attached to the rear spring part of the airbrush so it's much less fiddly to get back into place.
Oh and it's pretty cheap

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.

I have a Grex w/ Compressor kit that I bought from Amazon..
http://www.amazon.com/Grex-GCK02-Airbrush-Tritium-TS3-Accessories/dp/B003VIVGWO
I really enjoy the Pistol Grip stryl as it is comfortable in my hand. The .3mm nozzle seems to be a good all around nozzle as well. Most of my work was done on Flames of War model swhich is 15mm. It is a little pricey but everyhting about it is easy as this was my first airbrush and it didnt overwhelm me.

thanks guys. I'm going to look into the ones you listed.. I lost the nozzle small little piece for the front of the needle and the needle was damaged. It was sending back air through the paint and bubbling up. I tried to clean it and it would work until i put the nozzle front piece back on. No matter which way I adjusted it it would back flow and bubble over. I'm positive a lot of it was user error, I've always painting by brush but with the tanks and bigger warhammer pieces I would love to give it a try. So I'm looking for a beginner user friendly piece that can do large and fine line but nothing crazy. The atawa looks promising. Price wise I'm not to worried, you get what you pay for but Im pretty sure I dont need a uber crazy one.. Specially since Im starting out and may not even get the hang of it. Sucks that I live in a small town and michaels and hobby lobby are the only places we have and they look at me like im nuts when I asked about it lol.

That usually means the nozzle is dirty/clogged or the nozzle isn't seated properly (not tight enough or missing an oring, you don't have to tighten it much because you don't want to break it, but if it's loose air can get squeeze through and in to the paint cup). You want to make sure you're cleaning it properly, if you let paint dry in the nozzle or paint passage you'll have problems and it can be a pain in the arse to clean out after it's dried. On my cheaper airbrush I have actually fixed my needle when I damaged it. The very very tip was bent over so I sanded it off and sanded it back to a point. It worked because the needle had a rather abrupt double taper, my other more expensive airbrush has a more gradual taper on the needle and I couldn't fix it after I bent it.

I back this suggestion. I have had several Grex units and they are all great. Make sure you get the Trinium top feed unit. You can change the cup size and the unit is sooooo easy to clean. The pistol grip is just a natural way to use the brush. Of my four airbrushes this has been my favorite over the years.
The H&S is a great but pricey brush. The Iwata Eclipse HP-C top feed is a great starter brush for a good price and parts are readily available at Hobby Lobby. I have also heard great things about the Krome (Justin at Secret Weapon was recommending this brush and had some great deals at one time) but I have never used this brush.

I am a big fan of the Iwata HP- CS (eclipse). It's pretty cheap on Amazon US, it fantastic for 99.9% of beginner applications, very good for nearly all intermediate applications and usable for a good chunk of pretty advanced stuff. The main thing it isn't great for off-the-bat is painting large terrain boards, as you're constrained to a 0.35mm needle (and a larger needle is a lot more efficient). Technically, there are ways around it, but none of them are appealing to a new airbrusher. One of the big advantages over more advanced Iwata models is that it's dead-easy to clean.
