I have a quite difficult question, I think (at least for me ! ): which model of Imperial Guard stormtrooper do you prefer ?
The all new Scions, the Kasrkins or the stormtroopers ?

I love all of these models, but it is sad they discontinued the older ones just to sell more scions, even if I think they are gorgeous...

EDIT: I have added what Bobthehero said: I stupidely forget about FW and RT^^

I didn't vote because noone stand out for me, I think the new stormtroopers have a dark, gothic, side wich is really cool and belong to 40k.

What's left of Cadia

I would have to say the new Scions (although Kasrkin are a close second for me)

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes

All but the RT era Stormtroopers.

I feel like they each have their own respective niche. Kasrkin and the 3rd edition Stormtroopers work great with Cadians, Grenadiers with DKoK, and the Scions look great with things like the Vostroyans.

Anything but scions. That nauseating, baroque, overdesigned aethstetic makes me vomit in my mouth. They are symbolic of 40k's slide into hot velvet hell, both in look and name. Was it really worth having a trademarkable name, GW? I don't think I could take them if they were free.

3rd edition vac-suited stormtroopers all the way, followed by kasrkin as a close second.

Karskin/Stoormtroopers over Scions all the way.

They are meant to be the human elite, not marines-light. I much preferred them before they took on the whole heraldry and pseudo-medieval armour look.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I actually kind of like the Scions. I think while they can go heavy bling, they can also be stripped down nicely.

The Kasrkin are arguably the best IG sculpts GW proper has ever made. They're just too tied into the Cadian asthetic for me to use in my IG army.

Kasrkins. They have proper body armor. The new ones look like Space Marine Lite.

There WERE some done in metal, also.

For me, 3rd ed stormtroopers and kasrkin only.

I didn't like the beret wearing ones, or the FW or scion ones.

Grenadiers, of course.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Mixture. Kasrkin have the best helmets, Scions have the best guns.

To be pedantic, there's no such thing as "RT Stormtroopers". There was no such unit in the army list in WD 109, although it did have assault squads with jump packs and two laspistols. The beret-wearing ones, that look like a cross between the SAS and SS, are from 2nd edition.

I think I prefer either the 3rd edition ones. I wasn't keen on them originally, but they've grown on me over the years.

[pedantic]These are actually 2nd edition models not Rogue Trader. RT did not have Storm Troopers, though you could get jump pack guard and Carapace Guard. [/pedantic]

The old Inquisitorial Stromtroopers. I treasured the five, bought painted on eBay, I possessed as a little boy. A unit of those would be a present indeed.

The Scions are odd models. Folks here seem to think they have an elaborate, Baroque look. That should 'work for me'. I love the artwork of John Blanche, the beautiful, mediaeval, often deeply homelike for a traditional Catholic, Highest Gothic world of 40k. I have seen bits of Scions appear on beautiful Inq28 conversions and do wonders, but the models taken as Scions leave me utterly cold.

Oddly, I find them too sleek and technological, reminding me of dull, soulless worlds like Infinity, Star Wars and Star Trek. The old metal ones fitted perfectly into that world.

I also dislike the rewritten fluff -- names like Lambdan Lions or Thetoid Eagles seem silly to me. I simply ignore them and carry on referring to Stormtroopers!

i actually rather like the current scions, they have nice visually catching kit, they have cool bare heads, and they have some really cool flare items as well.

the previous stormtrooper models are also nice too if a bit rustic

the karsakin model of old is not my favourite, i do not care for it, nor do i like the even older models then those.

admech army: 600pts
ravenguard: 565 pts
