Is it just me? Am I stupid? Did I dry fit it wrong? Why are the weapon arms at such an ugly angle?

That's just how they're holding them. It adds some movement to what would otherwise be a very static pose.

OK then I've got stupid looking terminators and I don't know what to do about it :(

That unfortunately is how they are. You could personalise them to give them more character, drill the storm bolter barrels and such. Plus you might feel differently once they are painted up. Terminators have that walking tank look and the nature of the armour makes it difficult to overly pose

I'm really disappointed. I think I'm going to hit ebay and buy a bunch of S/H old ones!

In that case, you'll want to look for the ones that came in Assault on Black Reach. They should a) have the pose you want as they're snap-fit single poses with the guns 'straight' like that, and b) they should be dirt cheap as they were in every starter set for a good few years.

Thanks, I'll do just that then.

Yep definitely as Paradigm says, eBay it and look for the assault on black reach models. You could always do a little conversion work, I.e. Cutting off the bolter and hand and reposing? Depends how you feel about conversion work.

Reposing the hand should be super easy, probably not as easy as buying aobr termies though.

Pro tip: some dude just listed a stack of aobr stuff at current component retail on ebay - there are way better priced ones there.

The forums here are a good place to find stuff, or wau. In fact, i just got a set of 5 primed and semi painted ones in a trade I'd trade with you. Pm me.

I took your advice and re-positioned the storm bolter. Its my first conversion! Think its gonna need a little green stuff though.

You can even reposition the whole arm. The reason why some of the arms have strange angles, is visible at the shoulder joints. Look at the joint at the arm and the body. Do your cutting and Green Stuff work here and you might get better poses.

Picture as requested. I actually thought I did a pretty good job until I got out my damn macro lens!
Maybe I can improve it a little...

IMHO, you've just not modelled them correctly.

Sorry :(

If you turn the body askew and move the head, you can come up with a bit more of a dynamic pose which looks like he's firing a snapshot to the side.

That said, I'm usually too lazy to bother trying to get it perfect and as such, most of my termies look just like yours

Maybe one of them could be modelled like that to do the whole sideways snapshot thing, but 5 terminators all doing that? No thanks. I think the best bet is the cut the arm and re-align it. I'm not saying they all need to look like AOBR minis, but only one of mine is going to have the stock bent in arm pose.

There's the studio angles:

I think the pose isn't too bad. The worst ones were the first generation terminators that all wanted to fall over (leaning forward). The models are so bad in the game, though, that I really can't imagine myself painting more than 1 box of these guys; I really only paint hero and special model terminators these days.

I guess the studio termies do look pretty good but its obvious the weapons are on a silly angle. I am going to copy a couple of the poses though, so thanks for the pic!

I think I've got about 15 terminators all up, but no hammer-nators yet. I'm really eager to get some but I haven't found anything tempting on ebay or gumtree yet.
