Hi guys.

So I've moved to Weston-super-mare and my nearest flgs is Bristol. Bit of a journey for a game, and since a colleague of mine has expressed an interest in having a game I decided to build a gaming table.

Let's be clear, I've spent nothing. £0 on this. I had two mdf backs from picture clip frames that had broken and a bunch of basing stuff and for the structure bit I used a wooden pallet I picked up in the street (I got permission first, chill) I painted it with black, white, pearl white and brown acrylic paint from hobbycraft. Cheap as chips. And all the designs were cut from either industrial card board or thinner cereal box card.

It's rather small, only 2.5ft. X 4ft. But as it's a city board it's only for skirmishing. Now I know this is the showcase forum and everything is supposed to be finished but I really wanted to get this built and uploaded ASAP. I'm going to be making some moveable terrain pieces to go with it I've already started a burnt park with singed trees as you can see in the pictures.

Let me know what you think, always find it encouraging.

Thanks guys. Screamer - yes, I mean whilst I'm not saying it was completely free to make as the materials I Had lying around I still bought at some point, but I certainly was pleased to finish the project without spending and more money. I still feel there's loads more I want to do to it not least populate it with plenty of terrain.

Good stuff! Very atmospheric but sparse enough for tanky 40k. I mean by default. The risk of permanent features is being unable to dial the scenery down if needed, but you wont have that issue.

Thanks Grim!!

That was my primary focus when building this. I wanted a small board for short games and photographing my minis, but by making the terrain small, I can still have the smaller mech like 'dreads, bikes, small tanks, MCs, skimmers and small flyers. No Stompas or baneblades, heldrakes etc.

What I would like to know though is this:

If I made a second board to expand the size of this one, what height to make the buildings and ruins?

I ask because I'm interested to know how proper flyers interact with such terrain. Flyer stems are quite low and I want to know if anyone plays their flyers high enough to pass over building height
