Hey gang. Im finding myself needing to prime and basecoat my models inside and I need a few ideas about coming up with something that I can use inside the house and paint or prime my minis. Show me your setup and tell me how you built it. I rather see home brew stuff because I cant afford to make any purchases right now and need to build something

I just bought a cabinet from Menards, has two doors, and a couple of shelves that are adjustable. I plan to eventually get a blower to attach to the bottom of a shelf, with a hole in the shelf to suck the over spray down and out.

I live in an apartment so can't really have a permanent set up, so this works for me.

If you mean paint booth, as in, for an airbrush, I really recommend the Masters' one (it's sold under many brands). It's only $80-$90 (depending on configuration) and, works pretty well, plus it folds up much more nicely than anything DIY. The fan is also reasonably powerful.

If you're on a budget, copy the Master's booth design, and simply use cardboard, duct tape, a large computer fan (or four smaller ones), and a duct vent from home depot.

So, here is my solution....it actually worked.

NOTE: you need a box fan with a lot of power for this, not all of them are that strong....but $15 fan + $2 filter...

Now,I would not suggest this for something with bad fumes, as this only really picked up particulate matter....but as you can see from the colors on the filter....

I've attached my ghetto design. It's in the garage, so nice and ventilated with the door open.

Can I ask why do you need to prime inside? I live in Chicago and prime outside in almost any weather lol.

For basecating with an airbrush I do it inside and just wear a respirator. i dont i really need one because the paitn is non toxic but you... just in case. If its nice out ill open the windows in the basement. If its cold ill throw on the exhaust fan we have built it down there.
