Hi Guys,

I have been painting a little over two years now. My aim is to create an entire sector of space including multiple planets situated within a fictional system in the Halo Stars in the 40k universe. The Persephocles Sector is overseen by the Brazen Hoplites, a highly decentralized Space Marine Chapter who aid other Imperial Forces across the Galaxy. Due to a lack of external threats other than the Slaugth (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Slaugth) the sector is extremely rich in resources, with beautiful monuments and grand palaces scattered throughout the system. Due to the sectors location in the Halo Stars away from the peering eyes of the Imperium, beyond paying the tithe the sector has little interaction with the Imperium, offering somewhat of a safe harbour for non-hostile Xenos and Mutants.

The Brazen Hoplites themselves are a Greek/Spartan inspired force (tired cliche, please forgive me) that act as a highly decentralized, chameleon force (they aid other chapters in specific areas, gaining a wealth of knowledge and specializations to become a Jack of all Trades, Master of None chapter). The Chapter is non-codex Adherent, and is ruled by 15 Space Marines. At the helm of this group are the 5 Masters of the Chapter called the "Council of Bronze", ancient veterans whose age is undetermined. Fighting together as one unit, these brothers in arms believe their unity and ability to think as one has seen them through hundreds of years of adversity, and that this sense of brotherhood is the core value of the Brazen Hoplites. The other 10 rulers of the council are the captains of each battle company, with each captain able to choose four advisers during senate meetings concerning the sector.

I am still developing the fluff, and any pieces that I write or ideas that I come up with are open for critique so that I can build a chapter and a sector of soldiers successfully. My aim is simply to please, and I will be adding models as I go along. I will try to update weekly!

This is Captain Arkidas, the most decorated Captain of the entire chapter and the Captain of the Veteran First Company. Extremely gifted in leading and inspiring his men on the field of battle, Arkidas has little time or interest in the politics of the Senate, and acts only in the best interests of the military machine of the Persephocles Sector; surrounding himself with advisors from each head of the military branches within the sector. Often described as being headstrong by his peers, Arkidas's ability to succeed under pressure and lead men has seen him decorated with countless honours even amongst other Chapters and members of the Imperium. In combat Arkidas is a devastating machine of war. In one hand he wields a large eviscerator sword, a sword so large a Space Marine would have to use two hands to carry it, his terminator armour allowing him to wield it as if little more than a rapier. In his other hand lies a power fist, a weapon that he has been familiar with since his days as a sergeant in the Chapter many centuries ago.

Nice work, and nice fluff too. The greco-roman cliche may be a bit overused but this has done it properly rather than just ripped off the smurfs. Look forward to seeing more

Forsaking the governance of the Adeptus Arbites for a greater grip of control over their own safety, the Myrmidon police the Persephocles System's citizens against all internal threats.

Due to their location in the relatively unexplored Halo Stars, numerous resources both organic and material are ripe for discovery. Beyond the mapped areas of Imperium Space lie areas of uncharted territory. Members of the Persephocles Merchant Navy often return with never seen before weapons, creatures & other items to be reviewed for the betterment of the system, or have the item banned from the System's scope. Other more unsavoury characters such as Pirates and Smugglers may try to sell these forbidden goods on the black market, including deadly viruses, alien munitions or something all together more terrible.

It is against these threats that the Myrmidon protect the System's inhabitants from. Armed to the teeth with any equipment they deem necessary to keep the peace, the Myrmidon Police Force is a competent military force unto itself, its members highly specialized in espionage, stealth and marksmanship. Often recruiting the use of highly drug stimulated hounds, the Myrmidon may engage in all out battle against large bands of Xenos, Pirates or Criminal Gangs. It is not unknown for the Myrmidon to go undercover in this units to expose internal threats for years at a time.

Their leader Unamos is a highly secretive individual, with spy networks distributed throughout the entire Persophocles System, even within the Brazen Hoplites. His singular revolver is responsible for the execution of many of the systems most wanted criminals, his heart and mind truly dedicated to the protection of the system and its people despite others suspicions of ulterior motives. He is chosen as an advisor to Hestocles of the 10th Company, who values knowledge above all else.

The Brazen Hoplite Space Marine is revered in the Persephocles system as the ultimate heroic archetype, a pinnacle of warfare and a true idol of the people. In reality the the life of a Brazen Hoplites tactical marine belongs to the men alongside him, for the journey through countless battles and perilous journeys has been made alongside his unit. This extreme sense of brotherhood and unity is forged in the earliest trials of initiation. The unity ensures that there exists a bond only matched by the closest of Space Wolf Packs; and that this bond pushes the marines to extreme feats in battle; feats that sees them feared across the stars.

Differing from the Codex adherent chapters in which a Space Marine will typically undertake lengthy tours of duty in the Devastator & Assault squad ranks, the role of a Tactical Marine is the first step on a Brazen Hoplites journey into the Hall of Legends. With their ten man squad intact, the tactical marines are sent before the Grand Council to be assigned their first deployment as Tactical Marines, assisting other Chapters and military outfits of the Imperium across the Galaxy.

From this point the Tactical Squad is completely autonomous until the mission is complete or they are re-called, having full access to any equipment they may need for their mission. Those assisting chapters such as the Raven Guard may choose to opt for Jump Packs, Close Combat Weapons or the Judgement Pattern Sniper Rifles; whereas those assisting the Sisters of Battle may opt for Blessed Artefacts created for slaying the creatures of the warp.

Brazen Hoplites combat doctrine suggests that these deployments allow the Brazen Hoplites to become specialists in certain areas of combat. By fighting alongside the best soldiers of the Imperium the Brazen Hoplites have seen themselves elevated from a simple “Jack of all Trades, Masters of None” to a truly flexible force of destruction.
The sight of a Tactical Marine of the Brazen Hoplites is a welcome sign to any soldier of the Imperium across the Galaxy, for their complete flexibility and willingness to adapt has seen them cover for the shortcomings of their allies. It has allowed them to adapt to specialist roles that sees the brotherhood Hoplites and other Chapters grow stronger with each battle.

Captain Invocles leads the "Blades of Vengeance", the illustrious 4th company of the Brazen Hoplites consisting entirely of close combat orientated marines, favouring rapid and furious tactics compared to the their brethren. Invocles himself is extremely young in his captaincy, being at the helm of the fourth company for only 6 years. In this time Invocles's men have achieved unimaginable feats of bravery, the intensity of their attacks often overwhelming "impossible odds," heavily exploiting the tiniest chink in the enemies armour. Invocles's men make heavy use of human infantry to back up their lightning fast assaults, and is often a favourite amongst the officers of the Imperium.

Invocles himself makes use of a heavily modified power fist with built in flamer, darting to the front lines and unleashing a torrent of destruction that allows his men to mop up in his wake.

Please find attached a Space Marine terminator ripping the head off of a Hive Fleet Kraken Genestealer after aiding an Imperial Force in the Macragge system. The marine survived the encounter, and to this day still serves alongside the Ultramarines Tyranid War Veterans.

In the Persephocles military there exists warriors sole desire is to have their tale recorded in the Halls of Legend. For those that cannot join the Space Marines, an equally prestigious fate is an opportunity for the decorated veterans, whose bravery in combat is unrivaled. The most gifted of soldiers among the ranks of the military are hand selected by the Guild of Ichea, a sect of chemically altered soldiers who are revered in a celebrity like manner amidst the Persephocles Sector.

These soldiers are put through a rigorous series of biological enhancements over a period of 6 months, with the end result being a lumbering behemoth of a man. These soldiers are then taught hand to hand combat for a year straight, becoming specialists in the bloody art of melee combat. Standing taller and bulkier than a marine, the most simple of weapons becomes a devastating tool in their arsenal, however they lack the speed, utility and protection that a Space Marine can offer, and would surely lose in open combat lest their blades lock.

To have the augmentations is considered the greatest honour within the Persephocles Sector on parr with entering the ranks of the Brazen Hoplites, however the augmentations put such a strain on the human body that a lifespan of no more than 25-30 years can be expected once undertaken, often seeing them thrown into the fiercest battles alongside their comrades; their tales to become enshrined in the Hall of Legends deep within the Bronze Temple.

As the Persephocles Sector was quickly inducted into the folds of the Imperium, their people were exposed to new threats. Strong soldiers who excelled in the field of battle were now facing other realmly horrors that warped the mind, negating a soldiers tremendous combat capabilities. The solution to combat these new threats was to undertake extensive surgery on the endless amounts of prisoners throughout the sector. These prisoners would be offered redemption through the glory of battle, an honour that every citizen in the Empire has aspired to, a dark romantic gesture. They are partially labotomised removing any sense of identity or soul from the subject. The soldier is then pumped with a cocktail of combat drugs and armed with basic munitions and armour. This penal legion took the fight to Chaos mutants and demons without fear or corruption, returning to a mindless state once the drugs had warn out to be collected again and re used in battle.

The surgeons behind this team are highly revered individuals within the Persephocles Empire military machine, their identities kept a secret from the rest of the galaxy including the Empire's citizens for fear of repercussions for their unethical experiments.
