Hi

I am trying to decide on colors for my 40k khorne trim

In my 3rd edition chaos space marines codex the World Eaters colors are said to be Blood Red and Shining Gold

The new (awesome) Daemonkin Codex says Blood Red with Brass

To paint brass I put a base of Balthasar Gold with a light wash of Earthshade and then applied Brass Scorpion, then edge hghlight with Runefang steel

i plan to use this on my demons , but for the space marines (of evil) I would prefer a brighter look

So i switched it up to a more gold paint, with Retributor armor base, wash and then reapply retributor amor and slight edge highlighter with Auric armor gold

This looks very bright and yellow (but passable)

It would be nice to find a good middle ground

on the GW website the Khorne Berserker brass doesnt look anything like mine

Have they highlighted with a gold color?

Anyone know how to paint brass like this?

I've just started doing brass like so;

Base with mournfang brown
Wash nuln oil
Paint balthzar gold,
Layer brass scorpion (optional)
Layer sycorax bronze
Highlight runefang steel

Thanks for the reply

I'll check out sycorax bronze and see if it's the link I'm missing

That is a great mini with a nice solid gold color that mixes dark and highlight, I am definitely interested in how you did it

The base is Retributer armour, but some of the yellowness knocked back by mixing purple into the wash (1:1 druchii violet and Agrax earthshade). Then instead of relayering with Retributer armour I mix some white in first, and apply the thickest edge highlight, add a bit more white for a thinner edge highlight, then even more for just the highlight near corners. Avoiding layering any pure gold paint after the wash helped the gold not be too shiny or yellow.

That's a nice colour

For a quick bronze, you could also go the following route:

- Base in Brass Scorpion
- Wash bolts and cracks with Aggrax
- Highlight with Runelord Brass.

That's what I did on this guy:

Just a suggestion, if you want to make it a bit quick
