So...
Did I screw up a fairly simply and menacing paint job by trying to add some stripes? My idea was to add stripes to differentiate the ships, but I'm not sold on how it looks. Feedback is most welcome!

Looks good to me. They evoke a sense of rank or perhaps just a way to demark a different ship within a fleet, but it certainly doesn't take away from it.

I'll second/third/fourth that both look great, but I think the mirrored stripes look best and what's more, fits best. The Imperial ship designs across the franchise are all very symmetrical, it fits their whole thing of order and sameness and all that.

The "chevron" style stripes, IMO, actually detract.
There was some EU novel I read awhile back where an Imperial Captain had a set of stripes that basically ran the length of the upper hull.
If it were me? I would have continued the stripes to the other side of the hull at the same angle as the ones you had. It almost ends up looking like warpaint if done right.

The strips to me feel like they are on backwards. But I am not sure they would look any better in the opposite direction.

yeah i agree the stripes look like chevrons, which would be great to dictate which is the admiral's ship.
