Subject: Space Marines 30th Anniversary - page#13 new marine rules & powers
I'm loathe to say it, given the reception my last rumour post got, but feth it, I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.
So, fresh from the mouth of my GWFLGS Manager (yeah, I know, shut the hell up already!)
The next black date, that has been mentioned in other rumour posts already, is due in about a months time. From the 16th (he said of March, I presume he meant April as that is a Saturday), we'll start to see hints of what the release is to be in white dwarf. The release itself is to mark the 30th anniversary of power armour.
He suspects no codex, just a handful of models, purely aimed at the "good guys".
Past that, HQ were their normal quiet selves it seems.
As always, just sharing the jungle drums. Take it or leave it by all means folks.
Iconic soldiers of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, the Space Marines are recognisable to all. Slamming down from orbit in Drop Pods and unleashing hell onto the enemies of the Imperium, they are found in every corner of the galaxy, heroically battling evil wherever it is found in a desperate struggle for the very survival of mankind itself. As long as a single Space Marine draws breath, the Imperium of Man stands inviolable.
Games Workshop invites you to celebrate thirty years of Space Marines (yes, it really has been that long…) with this incredible, limited edition reimagining of the first ever Space Marine miniature! Armed with a disintegration pistol, disintegration combi-gun and combat blade, he comes with a Citadel 32mm Round base in a special presentation box, featuring his rules for deployment in games of Warhammer 40,000!
This model is strictly limited – once it’s gone, that’s it – so move quickly to ensure your own little piece of history!

The existence of a science fiction table top game in development by Games Workshop was made known through Citadel Journal in 1986 and Rogue Trader was officially released at Games Workshop's annual Games Day event in October 1987.
So...what are you hinting at here?
That...something for Space Marines will be previewed starting on...Wednesday?
At this point, stating that something will come out for space marines the month after a Sigmar release is like predicting that tomorrow, people will die, there will be an earthquake and the sun will set.
"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
Ohh, maybe a new box of Tactical Marines! They're due for their 6th(?) version in plastic, while Aspect warriors are still Finecast.
My Ultramarines army is like a "power armor through the ages" display, from Rogue Trader, on up.

"By this point I'm convinced 100% that every single race in the 40k universe have somehow tapped into the ork ability to just have their tech work because they think it should."
This is probably the 30k stuff from BAC. March 19th stardrake, March 26th khorne. April 2nd to 16th 3 weeks of Orruks. 30k hint in April 16th wd. Preorder on the 23rd.
The only weird thing is how they will repackage the BaC stuff so it's not more cost effective to buy the exact same stuff as parts of the boxed set on Ebay.

They probably won't bother, I expect there are enough people in the "buys direct from GW all the time" group to make the kits worthwhile to sell individually until they, I assume, phase out BaC, perhaps when the new HH boxed game comes out later this year.
EDIT: And OP, I won't have a pop at you for relaying retail employee rumours, your comments indicate you're as aware as everyone else how they're usually received, but I will say that if you're going to post rumours from a GW store manager you maybe shouldn't put your city in the Location box of your profile, or your friendly local GW chum might end up getting a visit from the GWHQ Stasi.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

I think there were metal Bob Ollie Space Marines before RT.
There were some early fantasy to sci-fi conversions in the Citadel Journal in the early-mid 80s.
Yeah there were, rather nice too I thought. A modern rehash of the Criminals-made-good Space Marines would be very interesting.
They're mostly here but there are a few later ones mixed in for some reason. So the minis on the bottom three rows except Huron Grimm and the MMelta guy are the original line.

Were that to happen, I can offer with great certainty that the FLGS Managers of West Yorkshire will be entirely non-plussed

Yeah, we'd have had Nids and CSM by now if there'd been anything to it. Did get dwarves right, IIRC?

To be fair, nids came in deathwatch, and the dwarves were pretty much bang on. As meatloaf says, 2 outta 3 ain't bad
Frankenberry wrote:So... Somethingalong the lines of an anniversary release for the 30th anniversary of power armour coming...at some point in the next 6ish weeks
A+, would get hyped again.
A+ would correct your posts for you again
D- would hope for more imaginative responses in future. Snarky Internet so and so is so 2014.
Overall rating, C. Could do better, but an adequate start to a flourishing forum relationship of witty back and forth and joviality.
Will give 5 stars or A star if fixed.

So CSM didn't happen.
Tyranids didn't happen yet.
Fireslayers had already happened/been leaked. Chaos dwarves didn't happen yet.
So 0/3.
Spoiler:
PENDING Release Schedule Rumors - Jan 2016
As the title says, provided by my new, eager, GWFLGS manager. Pointing this out so folk can order the respective amount of salt.
In a nutshell, Chaos Space Marines "some point this month" and Tyranids "soon". No info on the former, though the nid dex will mostly be collating all data sheets in to one book, and providing formations.
Nothing to write home about, I know, though would rather share the info for you to decide it's validity before buying either of those codexes.
Was also told that AOS dwarves will be getting g chaos dwarves and fire dwarves, though I timed out on asking for further info on these.

A single-sprue, monopose dynamic update of the old Armour Marks set could be fun, and generate a chunk of cash from the nostalgia crowd.

Meh, not someone that combs every rumour post so wouldn't have known the slayers had already been rumoured. Irrespective, it was correct, and nids (of a form) did turn up in the form of GSC, so I'm still happy to pay attention to what I hear. Feel free to ignore it, reporting what I hear can't have that big an impact on your day can it?

No biggie. Just setting the record straight, but I am someone who combs through all the rumors.
Your 'nids' rumor was
"and Tyranids "soon". No info on the former, though the nid dex will mostly be collating all data sheets in to one book, and providing formations."
That isn't at all what we saw.

You're right, I should have specified that that's just what he suspected. I imagine if I said GSC confirmed or something to that effect, that I'd have met with more derision

And yet been absolutely correct, so would have made a bit of a name for yourself.
