So for the last couple of days iv been working on a fountain as a centre peice for my gaming table. Its basically an old medication tub for the column and the lid off a blank cd case as the bowl with some foam board for steps and a few bits here and there and of course lots of sand. I was going to add some water effect in the fountain but i think in the later stages of 40k war zone the water would have been dried up at this stage. I planned on putting a terminator model onto of the column but i found the terminators position to be a bit boring, so if anyone has any ideas feel free to suggest a cool model to place on it. Also if anyone can think some sum extra features that would make this peice of terrain pop more feel free to say. i hope you guys like it.

thanks

Maybe some overgrowing foliage? Or slime? Graffiti? Blood spatters?

What about an Eldar on top, not a marine?
And yea some light foliage would be good, moss or undergrowth etc.

Beautiful, the use of materials has worked out flawlessly, the screw treads in the CD case and med container actually look quite decorative, and I love the posing of your units, especially the Eldar.

A few 'icing on the cake' suggestions I can think of: adding some blood around the Eldar unit to imply that he's succumbed to his wounds, maybe a splatter trail leading to where he's fallen. I think it works better for terrain if the units built on it are implied to be dead, otherwise it's like, why aren't they interacting with the units on the board..? That's purely my opinion though.

The spouts on the fountain look too shiny new. Since they appear to be copper, I think creating a verdigris effect would look awesome. There's a Citadel technical paint called Nihilakh Oxide designed specifically for this, but I haven't used it myself so can't say how good it is.

Anyway, great project again, it will look great as the centerpiece on your table

That actually is a good idea i must invest in some of that for the spouts and the statue when i make up my mind which one to use. Thanks for the advice guys

Somewhere in south-central England.

I reckon it would benefit from a bit of decorative detail around the top of the column, and obviously a statue on top.

I would look for a 40mm scale soldier, like these hoplites.

Something historical could be gothicked up a bit if you wanted.

So iv taken on board some of the tips you guys gave me, i added sum grass tuffs here and there which really adds a pit more colour. I also but in a few little skulls (coz it aint the 41st millennium without skulls ) In the end i decided to add a space marine captain to the top and used the oxidizing copper effect. Im really happy with how this turned out.thanks again for your advise guys

Might want to also consider adding some rust/water staining on the pillar below the spouts to give it a more weathered look.

Agreed, I reckon that would make it complete
