Hey dakka, I just started playing recently and I had a guy paint my army, now I made some model conversions and I want to paint them myself. I need help with ideas for making them look real nice, what paints to use and some techniques. I've added pictures of what my army paint scheme is currently and the models I want to paint like them. I play war convocation and I'm adding a space marine allied detachment with a counts as chief librarian Tigurius and a scout squad. My back story for them is that they were lamenters that are absorbed into my forge world military system.

Well first of all, thin paints down blah blah blah, standard thin paint speech aside

I'm not a fan of that yellow that's just me, yellow is by far the one of the hardest colors to paint.

As for the scheme this is how I would do it

Base is abandon black primer

Paint all metal bits in lead belcher
Use nulin oil wash on metal bits

Base the clothed In khorne red, highlight* in wazzdaka red, wash in Argrax earth shade

For the yellow, I would go with a dark dinghy yellow and highlight with a lighter one.

Highlighting is painting the highest raised edges of the mode, the points that would catch the light

You then want to wash it. A wash is a very liquidy paint that will get in all the cracks and create shadows while also smooth in out the colors.

Depending on what other effects you want will also effect the colors you need but a general rule of thumb, stay away from true colors like evil sun red, sunburst yellow, as a base coat they are just to bright also sale with pure white and black.

To many unpainted models to count.

Probably Nuln Oil for the final wash (black finish.
