So minor idea I had that I thought would be fun! So we all know there are a few types of 40k players, but I decided to see what races link up to them! Which one are you?
Space Marine: this player has near fanatical loyalty to his chosen faction, and will only play that faction and no others even if their chosen army is as underpowered as they come.
Eldar: the less fun version of the Space Marine, this player sees his own faction (or factions) as "the one true faction" that is superior to all others.
Ork: this guy's love of the hobby knows no bounds, he is always thinking of new campaigns, stategies, lists, and conversions, and is a blast to have in your gaming group. Even though outside of gaming environments he (or she) can get annoying.
Dark Eldar: the converter, this player may not even play the game but can take apart models and build them into amazing creations, and is an absolute WIZARD with green stuff. May make you very jealous.
Tyranid: this guy has 2000+ points of nearly every army and can bring any list to any game you can think of, his variable horde of minis could fill an entire flgs by itself, where does he find the time? Hell if I know...
Commisar: the tourney Waac player. This guy wants an army that will win. Full stop. If a new army comes out that can beat his shows up and makes his current list lose games? He'll drop the failed army and find one that will win instead.
Tau: the young and/or new player who lacks experience, but has quite a bit of enthusiasm for the hobby.
Chaos Marine: similar to the Eldar, but is instead characterized by his utter and complete contempt for a certain faction or aspect of the game, expect complaints.
!Update!
Demons:
Khorne: player who rages at every failed dice roll.
Nurgle: the great unclean one. Enough said.
Tzeentch: This player constantly plays the game like chess, pulling off diversions and complex plans quite often. They rarely work, but when they do expect WTF.
Venerable dreadnought: these players have been in the game since the first editions, these often bearded experts can be a lot of fun to be around just beware of "in the rouge trader days" stories.
Color Sargent: these players may have very small armies (in most cases but not all) but the forces they do have a paintjob worthy of An 'Eavy Metal model, these armies often feature heavy amounts of highlighting, washes, and detailing. Never, ever, scratch the paint on one of their soldiers.
Flash gitz: these players, similar to the color sargemts often have very small armies. In model count. Because what they do bring to the table is often in the form of knight Titans and super heavys or GMCs, bring melta. ALL the
Ultramarine: The player who insists that there is only one proper way to play 40k and can only enjoy the game if everyone sticks to it. "No FW, no formations, CAD-only etc etc".
Primarch: The local TO, campaign runner, club owner, GM, DM, and store manager. Without this guy we'd have nowhere to game.
Emperor: the owner of the flgs/GW store. Enough said.
Necron: we all know this guy but nobody "knows" this guy, quiet guy, good for a game or a little advise, but never really talks much and keeps to himself mostly.
Have any more? Which one are you? I'll add more in later updates, discuss!

"I don't have a good feeling about this... Your mini looks like it has my mini's head on a stick..."
"From the immaterium to the Imperium, this is Radio Free Nostramo! Coming to you live from the Eye of Terror, this is your host, Captain Contagion, bringing you the latest Heretical hits!"
I'd like to suggest another one. The Ultramarine. The player who insists that there is only one proper way to play 40k and can only enjoy the game if everyone sticks to it. "No FW, no formations, CAD-only etc etc". Basically named after their strict adherence to the Codex.

I find that the chosen army pretty much shows the players personality. My marine player friends tend to be chivalric personalities. Almost every eldar player i know is an arrogant know it all who either understands or does not understand the brokenness of their favorite units and suggests that others are just bad players for losing. Orc players are fun, social and jovial. Tau players tend to be the people who have pretty much no perspective on the power scales and generally bring broken lists to casual games. IG players hope for better times but do what they must in situations. Chaos players embrace the truth like it's a religion which tends to piss off fanboys. And so on. I do not know primarily nid players.
I'm probably a Tau, if anything. My lack of experience keeps me from placing in tournaments even with a decent list.
My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Subject: Re:40k races as players! Which one are you?
Malaal: The one guy who shows up every now and then, seems to get along with everyone, but any time you bring him up all the locals cant really remember his name or what he plays/paints
I have another one: The Watcher in the Dark. The player who always comes to game night but never seems to play. He is usually a nice guy but always seems to have an excuse not to jump into the action. Most groups do not seem to mind him.

Guardsmen: Guy who knows he has one of (or the) least powerful army at the time, doesn't really care, fights on anyways with or without a grim resolve. Personality beyond that can vary as much as there are guardsmen in the galaxy.
But if anything. maybe Dark Eldar. I wouldn't claim to be a wizard at it, but I would like to think I convert more or better than those in my group if by a little.

If there's a race that fits the little guy who's is going to do something cool. Fits me. Everyone talks about it afterwords and few people witnessed the legendary event. It's rare I get to my FLGS and actually play but oh boy is it legendary. My game master once called me the most machiavellian person he ever knew. When I first arrived they compared me to C3P0. Hahah.

From these descriptions a Space Marine. I love orks- how they play, how they look, their fluff, their attitude, everything. I don't care how powerful they are. They're a ton of fun to play and I can't really see myself playing any other army any time soon.
