You've already got experience painting Raven Guard, so that's a good choice. But equally if you fancy a change the white/gold /red of a white scar would pop quite well.

So much hate for the raven guard

But to both of you I was thinking maybe imperial fists. I've never painted them before yellow would be a good contrast (plus he looks like a dead IF ) and yellow will weather well.

I don't hate raven guard, just pointing out tactics of a dead marine . You'd have to give him a mustache and a top knot if he is white scar. Dead imperial fist works well too. They like hiding behind walls and things

In the wise words of Rogal dorn the best offense is a good defense

Very cool chaos knight. You went to town on that thing. I saw make the dead guy an Imperial Fist if you are gonna weather him.

Thanks man! I kinda did a lot of converting didn't I?

Well I decided to go with an imperial fist for the base and a simple metal scheme for the pipe, barring the skeletons, vents and aquilas. I also painted up the first shoulder pauldron for the knight,I did some binary free hand (bonus points if you figure out what it means) and a chaos star and then some transfers to fill in the blank spots.

And I the words of Peturbo (he kicked Dorn in the jimmy you know ) "It it moves shoot it, if it doesn't move shoot it to make sure it's dead "
He looks great on the base, maybe a little burning of the skull will make him look like he was caught in the pipeline explosion. Another reason to wear your helmet all the time, otherwise you wind up with a Michael Jackson moment.

That is a decent idea, I will probably try the black soot weathering powder I got laying around .

Well I got another shoulder pauldron finished last night so both of them are done. I also started work on his battle cannon arm, all that is left there is to finish layering the sotek green, highlighting the metals and blues and finally the wiring. After that I start on the actual body of the knight himself. Obviously this will be the most time consuming part (especially the metals and greens) but I think I may have it done by next weekend if I play my cards right.

Coming along nicely! Only thing that stands out is the edge highlight on the pauldron around the inset symbol, looks a little too stark compared to the rest. Might just be the lighting, though.

No I think it is that bright in person (I'll check when I get home from work). But should I just get rid of it or maybe tone down the color? Like a 50/50 mix of sotek and temple guard?

I reckon either go round with the base colour just to make the line a tad thinner, or stick a mid-tone wash over it to tie the two together. Either ought to make it look a bit more natural, Looking at the other pauldron, it's fine, so just compare the two and when you can get them both looking like the first one you're good to go!

Yeah comparing the two you are right it is a lot thicker. Something I can fix up with the layer paint pretty easy, thanks for pointing it out!

Well I started work on the main body of the knight and I got one of the most annoying steps done, base coating the metal hull. I also got the base coat down for the tusks, tomorrow I should be able to throw a wash on the body and tusks and plan on starting and hopefully finishing the metal trim and the carapace/leg armor.

Love the scrap code written on the pauldrons . But if it's true chaos you should add a 2.

Thanks man!

A question for the forum, for the metal bits on his tusk should I paint them a normal metal color or that teal green I use for the armor?

Well I have a sons of malice army and I have always thought he was kinda cool. I do wish that GW had been able to hold onto his rights or at least been able to flesh out malice a bit more

Well I got some more work done on the main body of the knight, probably one of the most tedious parts at that too. Tonight I will try and get everything washed, but I don't think I will get any progress done the next two days as I have orientation for my new college this friday and I am going to be leaving for it tomorrow night.

Alright I got a bit more work in on the knight, the washes are all done, and the chain fist is all base coated up bar a few little pipes. I also decided to dry fit it together a bit just to see how it is coming along and it looks impressive, I am glad I chose this pose as it expresses a lot of character.

That is a really nice look to him color wise as well. The pose is also very striking. As for the barrel being skinny compared to the head at the end, have you thought more about that, or are you good with it now that it is painted up?

There isn't a whole lot I can do about the skull as I glued it on with testors . Though personally I don't think it is super jarring, but then again I've never seen a skull at the end of a gun before .

Well I got some more work in on the knight, I finally layered down the sotek green and ubshati bone on the tusks. I also finished the not gold gold pieces to help give the knight some contrast on his body with the gargoyles, the power lines running to the knight head and various power station thingies on the back and side. I plan on edge highlighting the brass today after work along with edge highlighting the sotek green and then possibly starting work on the tentacles and free hand plus transfers.
