After being a long time lurker on this forum, and having frequently plundered it for inspiration, I thought I would start a blog on here to share a new project as I develop it. I think this is going to be a pretty sick project, in more than one sense. As I mention in the title, I have some other projects, such as my Necromunda, that I will also show on here later.
I am working on a fallout-inspired death guard/nurgle army. I have yet to settle on a name, but Children of The Atom and The Half-Living are current favourites. The basic premise is that these guys worship the decay of an atom, as the purest form of decay papa nurgle has to offer, and hence of far more interest than the usual disease and pestilence that his followers spend their time spreading.
Thematically this means the plague marines themselves, and their captain, are a small elite cadre who run a campaign of terror by exposing planets to horrific radiation. As a fan of all things post apocalyptic, this radiation obviously does all the improbable things to a plantet that wou would see in your average film or game, taking fallout as its chief source of inspiration. Alongside a few plague marines will be feral ghouls - zombies created by radiation, and various beasts and mutations.
Aesthetically this means I am staying away from the usual nurgle tropes of disease, decay and demonic mutation, and going for a mix of rust and naked metal, machine parts and such. Iron hands/warriors provide a fair bit of inspiration (and bitz) as well.
Anyway, enough blab - some pictures! These are just some quick WIP progress shots, I will be sure to take better ones before I start painting them.

I know, Thanks. I uploaded all different ones, and this happened. Now I am going to have to redo it all, pretty annoyed. Automatically Appended Next Post: All sorted - let me know what you think, all suggestions welcomed. I will be sure to update this when there is a bit of progress, and if anyone is interested I would love to elaborate on the ideas behind the army.

Excellent, a radiation inspired CSM army has a lot of potential, it will be brilliant to see where you take this.

Thank you KT.
I had initially intended this army as a CSM force with Daemon allies, but today I have been musing on using Daemons as the primary force, and marines as the allies, or even just using it occasionally as a pure daemon force. This would mainly just involve counting my zombies as plague bearers.
So, I got the bitz box and green stuff out and started playing around, would love to hear your thoughts on these. Automatically Appended Next Post: These would be plague ridden - slightly more machined-up ghouls.

If you are wondering why this guy is stuck to my wall, alongside a paint brush, let me say just this: in green stuff, as in life, work with gravity, never against it.

Next on to Heralds. Two of them are from the glotkin kit, one is a Reaper mini, and the one on the right is of course the ever present nurgle Lord conversion. He is from my necromunda project, and he has magnetic weapons, so I will try and build him something suitable for a herald. I am thinking so,etching hypodermic. The Reaper guy will be Epidemus when I want him to be.

The painted guy is also a pretty good indicator of how I will painting the rest of the army.

Now these guys I think will be beasts of nurgle - giant zombie cyborgs. I will probably get a set of vampire counts Crypt horrors, or whatever they are called, to similarly convert and fill out their ranks. Automatically Appended Next Post: And yes, the guy on the right previously had a career as an ork warboss for an army that will never be finished, but I a, going to take steps to de-orkify.

Bit more progress on the centaurs. Automatically Appended Next Post: The centaurs will probably end up as spawn for the CSM. If anyone is interested (and please do say if you are). I am working on a fallout tabletop RPG, and a lot of these models are going to be used in that game too. I know there are existing RPGs for fallout, but I think I have got some pretty nice rules for mine and I would be happy to share them (I would probably start a thread elsewhere for it).

Next up I want to make plague drones. I will either convert the existing models, losing the riders and making mechanical flies, or I will attempt scratch build some Mr. Gutsy rip-offs. Any thoughts on what will work best? Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh, FYI, the little things are going to be swarms of rad roaches, to count as nurglings.
