So I have been seeing a lot of people talking about the chaos space marine troop set (the ten man box) being sold out or missing from the GW site and lot of speculation about what this means. Am I the only one who still sees them for sale? Because I just checked the site and it's the same box as always for sale now, did it come back? What's up with this?

EDIT: So with the orginal question answered, new topic! Let's talk about why all the chaos stuff is vanishing!

GW slaes vary by area, it may be sold out in the UK and avaliable in NA for example.

Still listed as 'Sold Out' on the Canadian webstore, alongside Possessed (who've been gone for months now), the single Biker box AND the Bike Upgrade pack.
Keep in mind too that because we no longer have a basic CSM set, we also effectively no longer have either Thousand Sons or Noise Marines available, since those units are simply bitz packs that are added to the basic Chaos Marine kit.

I really, really hope though that GW won't release any new kits until our codex gets fixed up... Releasing anything new right now would mean that we definitely won't see any new special/heavy weapon options, due to the ridiculous limitations of our useless codex.

Better bar far to nearly kill off the current gakfest and wait 8-10 months for something that's equal to every other 7th ed book, rather than GW rush out new kits with 0 new options in a month or so.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; CSM's can compete in today's game when our 'ultimate' upgrades are just Plasma guns & Autocannons!

Yeah, the webstore is bad for that, hence why you can re-set your clock by the number of whine threads that pop up about sudden 200-500% price increases, due to people suddenly finding themselves on the Oz page!

I'm honestly hoping for us to get nothing until a new codex... It's been 10-15+ years already depending on which kits your looking at, another 8-10 months/1 year is nothing.

Besides, as a Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones fan, I've only been waiting for nearly 30 years now for Mr.Fatpants to finish the damn series!! (and he's still got 2 books to go!)

That is interesting that all those things are missing? Could we finally be getting what we asked for? A new model line? I don't think we are being squatted, they we would just be "last chance to buy" so I'm really curious. What do you guys think?

The reliable rumor sources, (Sad Panda, Lady Atia, etc...), have hinted that Chaos is due for a big release, just not this year!

Only thing that's apparently coming out are new plastic Thousand Sons, probably with the Warzone Fenris Part II, "sometime after summer".

At this point it's like waiting for Half Life 3. But then the same could be said of the SoBs.

I'm ok with a trickle of new kits. Granted, I won't rush out and buy everything as soon as it hits stores, but it is a lot lighter on the wallet than if they drop a new codex and 8 new kits all at once.

I'm going to assume that it's a glitch or they just haven't bothered to make more kits for some reason. But every time I see one of the csm kits go "no longer available", there's a faint glimmer of hope.

It's a shame that one of the better kits currently available from GW is being removed when there are so many other squad kits to redo. (Catachans, Steel Legion, Vostroyans, and basically any and every IG infantry)

I want new IG infantry too, but the Chaos Marines, despite getting a recut in late 4th edition, are 90% the same as their 3rd ed sculpts. They don't fir the current aesthetic of Chaos very well at all, and they look super dated. I still have some love for them though.

There's also the problem that the molds are so ancient now, half the tiny amount of details our models do have typically comes out miscast!

And while the basic Guardsmen kit are definitely right next in line behind CSM's for being in need of a new kit, at least Guard players get all their heavy/special weapon options in plastic now... Chaos doesn't even have that yet!
(but Space Marines have now had 2 freaking plastic Devastator kits!)

Perhaps we will see some small releases this year (new CSM pack, 1KSons, etc.) and a BIG release next year (The rest of the chaos factions in new or original plastics, Codex).

Late to the meeting, but this is what I posted elsewhere!

There's 13 Chaos items "sold out/no longer available" on GW USA.

Black legion pads, Death Guard Pads, Chaos Space Marines Sorcerer with Force Staff and Plasma Pistol, Emperor's Children Lord, Chaos Space Marines Biker Upgrade Pack, Chaos Space Marines Bike, Possessed, Traitors of Chaos, Crimson Slaughter: A Codex Supplement, Black Legion: Codex Chaos Space Marines Supplement, The Warhammer 40,000 Chaos Collection, Chaos Space Marines (the tactical marines), & Crimson Slaughter: A Dark Vengeance Expansion Set.

I am hoping a new Chaos codex &/or minis are coming out later this year. Or maybe they are retiring some of those things. Or maybe reboxing/new art? Or new Cdre bundles? Who knows. However, we usually see soon-to-be-redone lines start to be "sold out" online....

On the UK site there's also 7 other sold out items - Chaos Space Marines Tank Accessories, Chaos Space Marines Vehicle Accessories, Chaos Space Marines Death Guard Shoulder Pads, Chaos Space Marines Chirugeon Backpack, Chaos Mutations, Chaos Space Marines Iron Warrior Shoulder Pads, Chaos Space Marines Emperor's Children Shoulder Pads - sold out as well.....

In addition, on the Australian site these 3 are also "sold out" too - 6th edition Codex: Chaos Space Marines (English), Chaos Daemons Blasted Standards, Warhammer 40,000 Psychic Cards: Chaos Space Marines...

Any thoughts on this?

Finecast was discontinued from what I heard. Too many quality control issues.

$5 it's rebasing or reorganizing. I highly doubt a new CSM codex is in the works, our leaks are usually pretty spot on with this. Unless GW is pulling a fast one and being super tight lipped with this, it's probably not a new codex.

It is listed as sold out and "no longer available"on the Dutch site. It is not listed as "temporarily unavailable" like normal when they are just waiting for new stock.
I really hope this means we are getting a new box. The CSM models are badly in need of an update, preferably one that makes them look less silly.

Or maybe the CSM are just next in line to be squatted

Yes, yes it was. I have a Finnish friend and it is really hard to get any tonality out of him, and that's just face to face. I'm are rare one, in that I don't read into emails/txts and "decipher" hidden sarcasim or "tone." I read things at face value.

Actually the basic marines are one of the better packs of the chaosline. What about Havocs, EC, TS, PMs, Mutilators/Oblits? Those are either old, finecast, superugly or non existant

I wouldn't get too worked up about a few units being sold out right now. This has happened a number of times in the past. Nothing to get excited over.

I will die laughing if they're being made redundant immediately after release
