Hey there Dakka. We had our Wrath of Khan OP at the local shop the other day. We had a fun time with this one. Given the theme of the OP I wanted have Khan in my list, here is what I flew:

Officer Exchange Program Klingon/MU

28 USS Enterprise D
06 Khan (Reliant)
04 Admiral Ross
03 Riker (Hood)
03 Amat’Igan
01 Follower of Khan

32 Regent’s Flagship
04 Kor
02 Worf (Rotarran)
04 Drex
02 Kerla

My blind was the Lakota

26 USS Lakota
03 Erika Benteen
03 Upgraded Phasers
03 Micro Power Relays
04 Defy Orders

128 Total

That gives me a skill 11, 10, and 4. Not bad as I expected to see a boosted Picard and I was right.

Round 1 was against:

Officer Exchange Romulan/Federation

Scimitar
Picard 9
Admiral Hiren
Cloaked Mines
Cloaked Mines

USS Enterprise
James Kirk 9
Cheat Death
Cheat Death
Romulan Security Officer
Sakonna
Type 8 Phasers
Upgraded Phasers

D’Kora Class
Nunk
Kidnapped
Omag
Geodesic Pulse

His total was 129, which was good for me because that meant my skill 10 would move and shoot before his.

Set Up

Turn 1

Sorry, I was a little late with the pics. Turn 1 left us where Kor’s ship is sitting.

Turn 2

We are just inching our way through the nebula. My opponent dropped his mines, hoping to lure me in. HA! I won’t be playing that game. With plenty of time I decide to take it slow and avoid the mines as much as possible. I’ll play the long game instead of letting him get an easy win.

Turn 3

My opponent tries to move back and forth with his Enterprise and D’Kora. He sends the Scimitar out hunting. I decide to skirt the edge to get past the mines and use the Lakota as bait to lure away the Scimitar.

Turn 4

Still inching along. My opponent is still doing his back and forth shenanigans. Not yet sure if he is taking the Lakota bait or not.

Turn 5

So far so good at avoiding the mines. Looks like Scimitar is taking the bait after all. D’Kora and Enterprise creep up like sitting ducks.

Turn 6

Khan takes one hit from the mines, but Kor is unscathed.

Turn 7

The Lakota forces the Scimitar to bump and Khan does the same to Kirk. Kor strips the shields off Enterprise and deals one damage. Khan finishes him off and gets through 1 Cheat Death. Picard on the Scimitar whiffs and only does one damage. The Lakota lands 2 hits on the Scimitar in return. Khan takes one damage from the combined fire of Kirk and Knunk, between the Nebula and his upgrades Khan is throwing 5 defense dice 

Turn 9

Sorry pic missing

Knunk used Kidnapped to take Worf off of Kor’s ship. I use the Follower of Khan to remove the Romulan Security Officer from the Enterprise. That leaves him as skill 9 and Khan is a 10  Khan Destroys the Enterprise again and gets rid of the last Cheat Death. Kor finally takes Kirk out and strips the shields off of Knunk. Scimitar and Lakota pass in the night.

Turn 10

Seeing that time is about up I decide to sit comfortably with the points I’m ahead. Khan heads out of the Nebula. Kor avoids Knunk, he’s hiding behind my opponent’s hand. Lakota is stuck right in front of Picard and the Scimitar, but I use Defy Order to rob him of a shot.

That is time. I grab 40 points for Kirk, 5 for destroying a ship in the nebula, and 10 for having more mission tokens than my opponent. 55 points to 0, a WIN!

Round 2 is a bye for 60 points.

Round 3 is against more Romulans with:

Prototype 01
Gareb (Salatrel)
Admiral Mendak (Now we did look this one up on WORF, the Admiral can be placed on the ship, but he cannot increase the captain skill and if the captain is discarded or injured the admiral is discarded)
Maneuvering Thrusters
Multi-Spectral Emitters
Reinforced Hull Plating
Counter Attack
He had some kind of weapon but I can’t remember it.

D’Deridex
Toreth
Massacre
Upgraded Phaser Array (MU Terix)
Reman Boarding Party
Cloaked Mines
… and some other stuff.

His blind was the Klingon

Buruk
Duras
Dishonorable Tactics
Ambush Attack

Set Up

Turn 1

Sorry no pic

We just move into the nebula.

Turn 2

By using some good Sensor Echos we end with a pile up in the middle.

Kor and Khan unload on the Buruk and take it out before it can fire. Kor also lands two damage on the D’Deridex.

Turn 3

Kor follows the Toreth out of the Nebla and hits her while her shields are still down for two more damage. Kor takes 2 in return. Khan and the Drone exchange fire for little gain.

Turn 4

Lots of shooting but very little happening.

Turn 5

The pile up has moved to my side of the table and Kor is taking the long way to get back into the fight.

Khan lands a crit and 3 hits, unmodified, on Toreth and takes out the D’Deridex. The Lakota and Drone still can’t hit each other.

Turn 6

Again not much going on, the Drone is a lousy shot 

Turn 7

The Drone proves very slippery.

Turn 8

The Drone disables the last of its upgrades to fend off Khan.

Turn 9

Some more well placed Sensor Echos gets everyone in on the action.

With some rerolls, Kor lands a full boat on the Drone and he only gets one evade.

130 points for the enemy Fleet, 15 for destroying 3 ships in the nebula and 10 for having more tokens. 155 to 0 another Victory.

With a bye and two vicotries I take 1st and get a nice Independent Reliant for my effort 

This was a fun scenario and it was great to get the Enterprise D back on the table. With a free 360 and 5 hull it surprises me that I haven’t seen anyone else try using it in this one. Also Kor and Drex on the Regent’s Flagship is awesome. Even though these two ships have terrible dials, they are great for this scenario due to the Scensor Echo and 360 attacks

So 1 victory down, here's looking forward to Search for Spock

God, I can't wait to actually play in this one... I am really excited for it.

Nice job on stomping the opposition. Sounds like they never had much of a chance.

This was a fun one. Most of the lately have been fun.

I don't think my first opponent thought too much about the scenaro. I think his plan was to hunt with the Scimitar and just move back and forth with the other two. It didn't even occur to him that I wasn't going to charge through those mines He has been rocking that Picard Scimitar combo for a while so maybe he will switch to something else.

My second match was against one of the best players in the area. He was going to a couple TCM events, so I think he was just experimenting with ideas.

I find that players that run cloaked mines repeatedly tend to forget how easily they can be out maneuvered/ignored. I have never lost to a cloaked mine build because the other player beat me: my only lost was because the scenario killed all three of my ships.

Congrats on the win.
Cloaked mines are still a very common sight in the OP's I attend. Generally I just ignore them. I'd much rather take a point or two of damage on each ship if it means me getting my shoots in as planned.
I normally go for attack dice heavy builds, with high level captains that shoot first. Everything going well I can kill a ship a turn at least, and most games your facing two ships + a blind. Once their down to one ship I can just limp away from the mines with any damaged ships.
This OP looks like a much better scenario that the last couple I've played in, can't wait for it. I think I've got the doomsday machine next.

it's the quiet ones you have to look out for. Their the ones that change the world, the loud ones just take the credit for it.

Hey guys work and home have been crazy lately so I haven’t had time to post these. First up we have Search for Spock. This was from back in June so I may be fuzzy on what the fleets were. I flew:

Officer Exchange Fed/Borg

40 Sphere…
05 Picard 9
00 Admiral Hayden
03 Quark (Transwarp Drive)

30 IKS Neg’Var
05 Kor
01 Klag
02 Worf
04 Drex

Blind
26 Nistrim Culluh
04 Culluh
03 Stolen Technology
03 Rulat
04 Photonic Charges

For the away team I can’t remember what I took. I know Riker from the Hood and Rimat’Ighan were in there but other than that, no idea.

Round 1
My opponent had
Prometheus Class
Picard
Dorsal Phaser

Fed Fighters

Romulan Science Vessel
Donatra
Cloaked Mines

Belak
With stuff ???

Set Up

Turn 1
I wasn’t sure where the Prometheus was going so I backed up the Sphere and moved in the Culluh and Neg’Var. The Sphere and Prometheus were just outside of range 2 so no 360 attacks. However the Neg’Var was within range 3 so using Drex it got off a great shot and stripped the shields off of the Prometheus.

Turn 2
The Neg’Var decided to chase the Prometheus. The Sphere and Culluh focus on the rest.

Kor and Drex together are awesome, the Prometheus is no more. The Sphere takes out the Science Vessel and Culluh puts some damage on the fighters.
]

Turn 3

Using the Transwarp, the Sphere goes across the planet and picks up another member of the away team.

Culluh and the fighters are lost to the planet.

That takes us to time. I got 90 plus points for 3 or 4 members of the away team, a win for me.

Round 2

Bye, 60 points.

Round 3

My Opponent had:

Scimitar
Gul Evek
Interphase Generator
Stuff??

Prototype 001
Garab
Toreth
Disruptor Beams

Bioship Omega
Bioship Omega Pilot
Organic Conduits

Set Up

Turn 1
Using the Transwarp Drive, the Sphere shot across the planet and hits the Bioship.

Turn 2
The Sphere hits the Drone while the Neg’Var and Culluh go after the Scimitar.

Turn 3
Everyone bunches up in the corner.

Culluh and the Neg’Var try to hit the Scimitar but it’s a slippery one and the Sphere finishes off the Drone.

Turn 4
The Sphere keeps pace with the Scimitar and the other two close in on the Bioship.

Culluh and Drex finish off the Bioship. Culluah is then lost to the planet again.

Turn 5
The Sphere and Neg’Var prove too much for the Scimitar to handle.

So I end with full points for the enemy fleet and 4 members of the away team. I have two wins and a bye which is enough to win the event and take home a nice copy of Kruge’s BoP

Just this past weekend we had our Voyage Home OP. I didn’t have a lot of time to think up a list so I decided to modify my Robinson build from the Doomsday Machine.

Officer Exchange Program Fed/Klingon

22 Robinson
04 Kor 8
06 Rebellion
01 Klag
01 Elizabeth Lens
02 Worf
04 Drex
03 Sakonna*
02 Arsenal*
02 Tactical Stations*
00 Type 8 Phasers*
01 Upgrades Phasers

24 ISS Defiant
04 William Riker (MU Target Prime)
02 Admiral Worf
03 Ilim Garak (MU)
05 William Riker (Pegasus)
02 Dorsal Weapons Arrray
02 Dorsal Weapons Array

For my blind I got stuck with the Bajoran. I can’t say I wasn’t due but it is disappointing.

My Opponent flew:

Vo
Donatra

USS Enterprise
Picard
Fleet Captain (Tech)
Cloaked Mines
Cloaked Mines
Sulu
Sakonna
Type 8 Phasers
Upgraded Phasers

Fighter Squadron 6

And his blind was the MU…

Setup

There was not a lot to this game. My opponent just moved back and forth with the Enterprise and did 2 “Come Abouts” with Fighters and Vo. Once the Probe was past I moved in, he then dropped his mines and just moved back and forth in them.

He refused to come out of the minefield and the probe was moving closer to the edge. So rather than go for a roll off I moved in.

In the end the Interceptor and Defiant made quick work of the Enterprise. The Robinson was like taking a machete to the fighters. With Admiral Worf and the Upgraded Phasers I could take off 3 tokens a turn. The fighters didn’t last long to that. In the end his mines got the better of me. I could have waited him out and just had a roll off, but what fun would that have been. So a loss.

Round 2
Bye, 60 points.

Round 3

We had just gotten set up and the store told us they were closing early  So we had to do a roll off, which I won 3 BS to 1. Very anticlimactic, kinda like The Voyage Home movie. With one loss a bye and a technical win, I came in 2nd. I had won OP 1 &2 so all combined I was the overall winner and got to take home a nice Enterprise-A along with my other loot.

Next we have to gear up for Tin Man, which I will already say I am not a big fan of the scenario. It really just encourages jousting down the side and to me we have had enough of that with other OPs. I am actually going to lobby that we play the Obstacle Scenario for Worlds instead.

It seem like a lot of fun and adds more variety over the idea of jousting on half the table. Where the scenario may not be very exciting I am looking forward to the Cairo, a fun looking pack. I’m not sure what I will be flying but I am in the mood for pure Klingons or Cardassians, so I may give one of those a try.
