Well here goes, I have been hobby silent for a few months, but am finding some time to throw some paint down range recently. I did swear never to get a coolmini game again after my Relic Knights disappointment but vikings and monsters drew me in. Sure they are not resin level of detail but these are some rather lovely plastic, especially for board game pieces. I am hoping this thread will help me keep motivated, thoughts, tips or even images of your own posted as incentive all welcome.

Start the ball rolling with my probably finished Wolfman and the wip of the rather awesome fenrir.

Progress on my fenrir, mainly worked on the Base but some additional highlights to the fur and metal (hard to see TMM in a photo ) It's good fun to build the rock colours with washes, takes some of the headache out of painting! Also got some good progress on my test piece for the basic vikings mainly a semi-drybrush style to quickly build the lights and then glazes and washes to blend and build shadows (James Wappel style really, just without his skill )

Some tidying, extra dark ink to line, not too happy with the runes on the Base so may cover with snow, but otherwise I'm going to call the secong model from the set complete

Blimey, it sure is good to see some more Blood Rage on this forum. Nice work across the board, particularly on the Wolf Clan warrior. The sculptors did a great job of recreating Adrian Smith's designs, and you've done a brilliant job at recreating the grit he envisioned them with.

You just might be the motivation I need to start my blog to keep myself motivated in painting the exact same things.

Thanks, motivation is the killer for me! Between work, a 3 year old and sleep my time is limited I haven't found too much about people's painting progress with blood rage so feel free to start your page or even post in here?! The more people posting their wip here the more we can all learn. Good luck with them.

Great job so far. I love these figures, this one's all new to me. Great job on the Viking, he is indeed a gritty, tough looking bastard. Fenrir looks great too, I would suggest putting a little darkening wash on the rune if you're still not happy with it. When I noticed the arm sticking out from underneath the stone slab I cracked up. Awesome stuff, can't wait to see some more.

Right, finally finished my infinity icestorm set so back to blood!!!

Got back to trying to finish the test pieces for the clans, 4 are almost there and the raven and ram guy need more.

I also thought I'd try a quick splash of colour on this bad boy, trying to use blue. Green, purple, red to build a quick colour Base.

Hopefully I will keep finding time to paint, comments, pointers and randomness is. As always, welcome.

Have fun!

Nice stuff. Didn't back Blood Rage at the time.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Agreed - very nice work here. The colour works very well on the sea monster. The vikings look good, but the photographs look washed out, so I feel like we're missing out on seeing how great they must be in person.

Right, going to call it on the old sea monster - loads of others to paint so can't get too bogged down.

Trying to work on photos but without a proper light setup and dslr im reaching my limit. Hope it comes across okay.
